“And all at once, summer collapsed into fall” (Oscar Wilde). Scorching days have transitioned to crisp mornings and comfortable afternoons. Fall has always been my favorite time of year. I love that chill in the air feeling as it feels so refreshing after months of sweltering heat. I love the kaleidoscope of colors transforming the landscape as leaves enter the sunset of their lives. And when that gust of wind blows, they let go gracefully and obediently, dancing their last dance. The sweet smell of burning wood fills me with warmth and yearning for this new season. Fall embraces me like a warm hug and I am excited for sweater weather, vanilla, pumpkin, and marshmallow swirl candles (great combo, right?!), fabulous fashion, boot season, and best of all, Lizzy’s Latest Top 5 Fall Favorites!(more…)
Last week I shared outfit 1 celebrating the Washington Nationals 2019 World Series Championship win. I dubbed it my “All American Girl” look. This week, I am sharing outfit 2 which I have labeled my “Vixen” look. To me, it’s amazing how a pair of black backseam pantyhose can elevate an outfit from cute to SEXY! (more…)
Back in the summer, I received a text from my dear friend, Kimberly. She is the founder and owner of torturedSoles, a wonderful 100% women owned company specializing in non-slip shoe pads. These scientifically developed pads are the BEST solution to feet discomfort and pain. They are great for women AND men. (more…)
Family is one of God’s greatest gifts in life. When my cousin, Caroline, received the Sacrament of Confirmation last month, I had the honor of being her sponsor. In the Roman Catholic tradition, Confirmation is the moment we receive the Holy Spirit and acknowledge our commitment to the Catholic faith. (more…)
Fall has arrived, but summer still persists. Yet in time, its dissipating warmth eases the transition to the new season. I’m excited and enticed as fall captivates with colorful landscapes. This truly is my favorite time of year! I love watching the leaves change colors and fall from the trees in an enchanting dance with the wind. I love the aroma of burning wood on chilly nights. It is the start of boot season, sweater weather, football, great fashion, and more! I adore it all and, of course, Lizzy’s Latest annual Top 5 Fall Favorites! (more…)
It’s been a long while…I know! I apologize for my absence from the blog last month. May was unusually busy for me. I was in South Carolina the beginning of the month for my niece, Kristin’s, First Holy Communion. I had a one week reprieve before heading up to New York City for my sister, Jeanette’s, graduate school graduation from Columbia University. My little sister is an Ivy Leaguer. 🙂 I had another short reprieve before I was on the road again for a few days of rest and relaxation in Virginia Beach. And before I knew it, May was gone. (more…)
It is that time of year again when summer’s farewell lingers like the final notes of a beautifully composed piece of music. The ambience is sublime and filled with mirthful memories of time well spent. Holding on for one more hurrah and always one more until there is no more. Parting is such sweet sorrow tempered by fall’s inevitable tomorrow. Enticed, fall captivates with colorful landscapes and dancing leaves that fall from above. The aroma of burning wood on crisp evenings signals the start of sweater weather, boots, and everything else we love about this new season. For me, it is all of the above and of course, the annual Lizzy’s Latest Top 5 Fall Favorites! (more…)
When The Vampire Diaries (TVD) Convention came to Washington, DC in 2016, my good friend, Martina, suggested we attend this event so we could finally meet in person. We had been virtual friends since 2008 when our favorite boyband, The New Kids on the Block, reunited. We were also big fans of the show and Martina, at that time, frequented many TVD conventions. I’ve always adored traditional pumps. I find them beautifully timeless and fiercely feminine. Over the years, I have tried to wear them, but my narrow heels would always slip out of the heels causing me great frustration and embarrassment. Eventually, I discovered heel inserts and thought they would be the solution to my narrow heels. The drug store brands did solve the heel issue, but their bulk made the toe box extremely tight and painful. For a while, I endured the pain for fashion’s sake, but the nightly toe cramps finally convinced me that traditional pumps were simply not compatible with my narrow heels. Sigh…
Unable to wear traditional pumps, my feelings start with sadness…
