Lizzy’s Latest – Happy Halloween!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

I can’t believe my last post was on the 4th of July!  Time always has a way of escaping me.  Sigh…but, I’m back now with a new post featuring the classic and classy Sam Edelman Hazel black patent pumps.  Aren’t they so sexy?!  Of course, I am wearing torturedSoles non-slip pads to keep my narrow heels in the pumps.  🙂

I’ve been traveling A LOT this year.  That’s part of the reason why I’ve been absent from the blog.  However, being the paranormal enthusiast that I am, I could not miss posting for Halloween.  I’ve had such a fun month!  It started with a girls trip to Salem, MA with my two besties:  my childhood Forever BFF, Tammy, and my college BFF, Packy.  We had a bonus friend, Beatriz, who is Packy’s friend from her neighborhood.  I was really excited about this trip because I’ve always been interested in the witch trials of 1692.  During the hysteria, 19 people were found guilty of witchcraft and executed by hanging.  The 20th victim was a man named Giles Corey.  Corey was pressed (crushed) to death over three days because he refused to enter a plea.

Today, Salem’s Puritan past remains in the past.  It is now an eclectic town with a festive atmosphere.  It reminded me a little of New Orleans (minus the public drinking) with throngs of people wandering the historic district and browsing the mom and pop shops, many of which were witch and occult shops.  Spooky!  I remember asking where the “normal” souvenir shops were.

Can you spot, Tammy, Beatriz, and Packy??? 😉

We ran into many spooky characters!

We took a day tour our first day in Salem.  Our guide was wonderful and gave us a great intro to Salem’s history as well as other notable facts.  I quickly learned much of Hocus Pocus was filmed there.  I’ve never seen Hocus Pocus, but it is now on my list of movies to watch.  Several episodes of Bewitched were filmed in Salem too!  There is a statue of Elizabeth Montgomery across from the Gulu-Gulu Cafe

Beatriz took this capture of me with my besties at the Bewitched statue on our last night in Salem. Packy couldn’t resist buying a witch hat. Lol!

Lizzy’s Latest – Happy New Year 2023!

HAPPY NEW YEAR to my family, friends, followers, and visitors!  As usual, I’m fashionably late with posting.  Sigh!  I hope y’all had a great holiday!  Christmas here was a little smaller because my brother, Michael, and his family were not able to make it up from NC this year.  So, my annual Christmas pic with the kiddies was replaced with a snap of me with the rest of my family. Lizzy’s Latest – BCBGeneration Jalila Sandals

I’m slowly acclimating back to blogging after so much time off.  It’s all coming back to me now.  😉 In my previous post, I mentioned I wasn’t sure if I would do a review of these heels because I’d like to move on to fall shoes.  In the end, I decided to write a review post because I had more pics in this shoot to share.  So, why not? Lizzy’s Latest – Ghostober Fun!

SURPRISE!  Lizzy’s Latest is back!  😊  I guess by now, y’all are used to my inconsistent postings.  I apologize for that.  2022 has been a very unusual year for me and my family.  Two health crises, both unexpected, one resolved (thank God) and the other still uncertain, have dominated my family’s life this year.  We’ve acclimated to our new normal, but it can still be scary at times.  Yet, our faith is strong.  And with faith, comes so much hope.  (more…)

Lizzy’s Latest – Vince Camuto Elisen Buckle Lug Sole Booties

Maryland is such a beautiful state!  To this day, we continue to discover amazing treasures such as the War Correspondents Memorial Arch at Gathland State Park in Western Maryland.  I was so excited to have a fall photo shoot here because of the gorgeous backdrop.  Part of the Appalachian Trail cuts through here and the area is steeped in Civil War history that I was not aware of until we found this hidden gem.  I’m hoping to write more about its Civil War past in future blog posts.  (more…)

Shoespiration – Anne Klein Lalima Platform Sandals

Are y’all surprised to hear from me so soon?!  😉  I’m truly trying to make up for all this lost time.  This summer was hectic with work, summer adventures, and photo shoots.  Although I didn’t post much these last couple of months, we were still taking pictures for the blog.  I have a backlog of content from past summers and this summer to share.  My dad is of the mindset that summer looks can be posted anytime of year.  I tend to like to share outfits that complement the current season.  Perhaps there can be a compromise.  What do you think? Shoespiration – Vince Camuto Amvita Booties – Destined to be Friends

Sometimes friendship is a destiny waiting to happen.  One of the best gifts of starting my blog is connecting with my followers.  One of my first followers is a guy named Mike.  Mike has a great page filled with nature, sunsets/sunrises, and history.  It’s a perfect trifecta of interests. (more…)

Haunted History – Clara Harris and Henry Rathbone: Henry’s Descent to Madness

April 11, 1865:  Washington DC socialite, Miss Clara Harris, was at the White House listening to President Abraham Lincoln address a mostly jubilant crowd.  Just a few days before, Confederate General, Robert E. Lee, surrendered his Army of Northern Virginia to Union General, Ulysses S. Grant, at Appomattox Court House.  This surrender marked the beginning of the end for the Confederacy and the long fought Civil War.

Lizzy’s Latest – Top 5 Fall Favorites – 2020 Edition

“And all at once, summer collapsed into fall” (Oscar Wilde).  Scorching days have transitioned to crisp mornings and comfortable afternoons.  Fall has always been my favorite time of year.  I love that chill in the air feeling as it feels so refreshing after months of sweltering heat.  I love the kaleidoscope of colors transforming the landscape as leaves enter the sunset of their lives.  And when that gust of wind blows, they let go gracefully and obediently, dancing their last dance.  The sweet smell of burning wood fills me with warmth and yearning for this new season.  Fall embraces me like a warm hug and I am excited for sweater weather, vanilla, pumpkin, and marshmallow swirl candles (great combo, right?!), fabulous fashion, boot season, and best of all, Lizzy’s Latest Top 5 Fall Favorites! Shoespiration – Steve Madden Sidney Dress Sandals

August was full of adventure for me!  I was in Savannah, GA earlier in the month and had a wonderful time.  I will detail that trip in a future blog post.  I also spent time with my two Godsons and niece in SC mid-August.  We had an 80s themed party which I will also share in a future blog post.  By the end of August, we were back to photo shooting for the blog.  I cannot wait to feature that post because it deals with the legend of Moll Dyer, a local woman who lived a century or so ago and was rumored to be a witch.  Perfect post for October!  😉  (more…)
