Lizzy’s Latest: Sphinx Vogue Collaboration and Shoespiration: Michael Kors Elana Platform Sandals

What a treat this week!  Lizzy’s Latest has a special two part post featuring a new fashion collaboration with Sphinx Vogue and a Shoespiration segment featuring the Michael Kors Elana platform sandals.

Back in July, Jessica from Sphinx Vogue reached out to me.  She explained the company is a new fashion brand for women of distinction.  Apparently, the marketing team at Sphinx Vogue likes my style and my photos and as such, would like me to be a Sphinx Vogue model.

I was flattered and asked for more information.  Jessica explained that they would let me select 3 pieces of jewelry or 1 swimwear and 1 jewelry in exchange for photos of me wearing the products.  I would only have to pay for the shipping.  I took a quick glance at their website and several jewelry pieces caught my eye.  So, I happily agreed to the collaboration.  Jessica sent me a special code to use for my purchase and I found my 3 pieces that night.

The products shipped from China (surprise, surprise!) and was slow to get here, but I was ok with that because I didn’t have an outfit and heels in mind yet.  About 2 months later, the package arrived.  Though, I thought it peculiar that the packaging was a bubble wrap envelope considering jewelry is delicate.  Unfortunately, one of the bracelets was damaged during shipping, but fortunately, not broken.

I chose 2 bracelets, here and here, and one necklace, here.  All pieces in gold because I prefer gold over silver.  Being a girly-girl, I love sparkly pieces.  😊  I also have a thing for circles, so the sun necklace grabbed my attention.

My most favorite piece is the tree of life bracelet.  Isn’t it sooo pretty?!  It reminds me of the book, “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” by Betty Smith.  It’s a coming of age story about a little Irish girl and her family growing up in a poor section of Brooklyn, NY at the turn of the 20th century.

I was about that little girl’s age when my dad introduced me to the book.  However, I was more interested in my favorite boy band and hanging with my Forever BFF, Tammy, than I was in reading this book.  Yet, Dad persisted and required that I read the book. UGH!!!  So, I did, I really did!  And then, Dad quizzed me and apparently, according to him, I failed the quiz.  So, to this day, he thinks I never actually read the book!  But, I SWEAR, I did!!!  It was required reading for all of us kids and according to Dad, my brother, Michael, and sister, Jeanette, passed the quiz.  Sigh!!!  We eventually watched the movie too at one point and I knew the story because I read the book.  Do you believe me now, Dad?!  Haha!!!  I’m certain Dad will give his thoughts on this in the comments section.

Anyway, I really enjoyed this collaboration and wearing the jewelry.  They are very pretty pieces, but for the amount of money they are priced at (over $100 each!), I would hope their packaging will improve.  If I had to pay for these pieces, I would have been very upset to receive a damaged bracelet, but since I was gifted the jewelry, I can’t complain too much.

I decided to pair the jewelry with a black outfit and Michael Kors Elana platform sandals.  It was love at first sight with these sandals.  Black with gold trim is so chic to me!  The heels are high at approximately 4.25 inches, but the 1.25 inch platform makes them quite comfortable to walk in for an extended period of time.  I felt so tall in these sandals!  I knew they would look perfect with a slinky black top, black shorts, and my Sphinx Vogue jewelry.  This look gave me an aura of sexiness and confidence!  I felt so beautiful in this heel/outfit combo.

So much so, I made Dad (my photographer) take a million photos of this look.  We had our photo shoot at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond.  We were there last spring (2019) and I still have a heel/outfit combo I’ve yet to feature from that spring shoot.  This time around, with the pandemic, we weren’t aware we had to purchase tickets online.

Luckily, the place was virtually empty and they allowed us admission into the gardens.  Our luck continued inside the gardens because we pretty much had the place to ourselves save for a handful of other visitors.  We got great pictures for this outfit and one other outfit that I will most likely feature next spring.

In the meantime, have a great week and enjoy the pictures!  I’m working on a special Haunted History post for Halloween.  Y’all know how much I love the paranormal and spooky stories for the month of Ghostober!  You can check out my previous Haunted History posts about the Legend of Moll Dyer here, the (Edgar Allen) Poe Toaster here, and my paranormal encounter with the fierce Iron Brigade here.  Happy reading!  😊

Style with a Smile!
