Lizzy’s Latest – Washington Nationals 2019 World Series Champions – Outfit 1

I realize this is a little belated, but CONGRATULATIONS to the Washington Nationals for their 2019 World Series Championship win over the (cheating) Houston Astros!!!

It was a long and uncertain journey especially after losing outfielder, Bryce Harper, to the Phillies.  Big mistake, Bryce!  When the Nats fell below .500 on May 23rd, chances of them making the playoffs were slim.  Despite the challenges, this dream team stayed in the fight and brought renewed hope to the franchise when they defeated the mighty Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series winning their first playoff series in franchise history!

Now, I must confess I don’t normally follow baseball, but my excitement grew when the Nats crushed the scrappy St. Louis Cardinals in a 4-game sweep winning the National League Pennant on October 15th at Nationals Park and securing their spot in the 2019 World Series Championship!  I was officially on the bandwagon!  My only regret was declining an invite to that historic Game 4 at Nationals Park.  The thought of going into DC and having to find parking were enough to keep me away that night.  However, in hindsight, I should have gone!  When I told my dad this, he was in utter disbelief!  He sent out a family text:

“Lizzy’s coworker had an extra ticket to the Nats game tonight and asked if she wanted to go.  She said no.”

My brother, a sports fanatic, responded:

“Ha…what’s wrong with her?!  That’s like the Super Bowl of DC.”

YES…I know (now)…sigh!

Needless to say, I was super excited to cheer our beloved Nats in their first ever World Series Championship against the Houston Astros!  It was a great series too!  We took the first two games at Houston and I wholeheartedly believed we would sweep the Astros at home, but sometimes what we desire and what actually happens are not the same.  To my disappointment, Houston took Games 3, 4, and 5!  I refused to give up hope and posted on Instagram my support and belief that the Nats would come back and win the series.

My good luck Nats style that I posted on Instagram. 🙂

My hunch came to fruition the bottom of the 9th in Game 7 when Nats relief pitcher and closer, Daniel Hudson, struck out Michael Brantley, clinching the Washington Nationals World Series Championship win!

WE WON, WE WON, WE WON!!!

To me, it felt like this win was written in the stars!  For this team, it was their year!  They overcame so many obstacles including Max Scherzer’s neck and back spasms that took him out of Games 5 and 6.  Yet, the Nats still managed to finish the fight!  It’s no wonder so many Nats paraphernalia have the slogan, “Fight Finished.”  Indeed the fight is finished and the Washington Nationals are FOREVER

I had planned to post some celebratory shots on Instagram, but there was a shortage on women’s t-shirts.  A long delay in shipping and my shirts did not arrive until around Thanksgiving.  By then, it was the holidays and the weather was too cold.

We got lucky a few weekends ago when the mercury hit the 70s.  It would be the perfect weekend for this shoot.  The weather was so nice we ended up taking lots of pictures for two different heel/outfit combos that I will now share here on the blog.

This first style is my “All American Girl” look.  I paired my red championship t-shirt with daisy dukes and the Jessica Simpson Beeya ankle strap platform sandals that I featured on the blog here.  The look is sweet and sassy and resembles my personality.  I felt so pretty and tall in this look!  🙂  Just need to “buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack, I don’t care if I never get back…”  Is that song stuck in your head now?  😉

Have a great weekend, y’all!  Next week, I will feature the second look.  It’s more vixen than good-girl…so look out for that!

Style with a Smile! 🙂
