Lizzy’s Latest – Happy Halloween!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

I can’t believe my last post was on the 4th of July!  Time always has a way of escaping me.  Sigh…but, I’m back now with a new post featuring the classic and classy Sam Edelman Hazel black patent pumps.  Aren’t they so sexy?!  Of course, I am wearing torturedSoles non-slip pads to keep my narrow heels in the pumps.  🙂

I’ve been traveling A LOT this year.  That’s part of the reason why I’ve been absent from the blog.  However, being the paranormal enthusiast that I am, I could not miss posting for Halloween.  I’ve had such a fun month!  It started with a girls trip to Salem, MA with my two besties:  my childhood Forever BFF, Tammy, and my college BFF, Packy.  We had a bonus friend, Beatriz, who is Packy’s friend from her neighborhood.  I was really excited about this trip because I’ve always been interested in the witch trials of 1692.  During the hysteria, 19 people were found guilty of witchcraft and executed by hanging.  The 20th victim was a man named Giles Corey.  Corey was pressed (crushed) to death over three days because he refused to enter a plea.

Today, Salem’s Puritan past remains in the past.  It is now an eclectic town with a festive atmosphere.  It reminded me a little of New Orleans (minus the public drinking) with throngs of people wandering the historic district and browsing the mom and pop shops, many of which were witch and occult shops.  Spooky!  I remember asking where the “normal” souvenir shops were.

Can you spot, Tammy, Beatriz, and Packy??? 😉

We ran into many spooky characters!

We took a day tour our first day in Salem.  Our guide was wonderful and gave us a great intro to Salem’s history as well as other notable facts.  I quickly learned much of Hocus Pocus was filmed there.  I’ve never seen Hocus Pocus, but it is now on my list of movies to watch.  Several episodes of Bewitched were filmed in Salem too!  There is a statue of Elizabeth Montgomery across from the Gulu-Gulu Cafe

Beatriz took this capture of me with my besties at the Bewitched statue on our last night in Salem. Packy couldn’t resist buying a witch hat. Lol!

Lizzy’s Latest – Happy New Year 2023!

HAPPY NEW YEAR to my family, friends, followers, and visitors!  As usual, I’m fashionably late with posting.  Sigh!  I hope y’all had a great holiday!  Christmas here was a little smaller because my brother, Michael, and his family were not able to make it up from NC this year.  So, my annual Christmas pic with the kiddies was replaced with a snap of me with the rest of my family. Are y’all surprised to hear from me so soon?!  😉  I’m truly trying to make up for all this lost time.  This summer was hectic with work, summer adventures, and photo shoots.  Although I didn’t post much these last couple of months, we were still taking pictures for the blog.  I have a backlog of content from past summers and this summer to share.  My dad is of the mindset that summer looks can be posted anytime of year.  I tend to like to share outfits that complement the current season.  Perhaps there can be a compromise.  What do you think? Lizzy’s Latest – La Plata, MD – Out and About

Is it really August?  This summer is going by so fast, but I think I say this every summer.  😉  I bet if we go back to last summer’s posts, there is a similar sentence somewhere.  (more…)

Lizzy’s Latest – Father’s Day Edition

Lizzy’s Latest Note:  This post was supposed to go live on Sunday, but I had ongoing internet issues.  Comcast is the WORST!  Absolutely unreliable and I plan to cancel my service soon.  As such, my Father’s Day post is a bit belated.

Greetings, my faithful friends and followers.  I must apologize for my absence, but life got busy (again!).  Adding to the delay was a technical issue that briefly took my website offline.  I didn’t even realize my website was offline until a few days ago when I tried to update it and couldn’t get in.  It was the worst feeling; my heart sank.  So much of my heart and soul goes into Lizzy’s Latest.  It is a passion of mine because I enjoy sharing heels and history with all of you.  🙂 (more…)

Taking pictures for the blog has been quite limited during this pandemic.  With everything closed, we have been staying in the neighborhood for photo shoots.  This time around, we ventured a little further into Southern Maryland.  (more…)

Lizzy’s Latest – My Favorite Girl

If you’ve been following my blog on a regular basis, you know about my Forever BFF, Tammy, and my East Coast BFF, Packy.  Well, there is one other girl who completes my trifecta of besties.  She was a girl I used to know who remains close to my heart.  She was my Eternal BFF, Shari.  The first time we met was serendipitous and from that moment on, we became the best of friends.  We got into so much mischief together (as kids do!), but always gave the appearance of being perfect angels.  😉  When we lost touch many years ago, I never forgot Shari, even searching for her over the years to no avail.  Her impact on my life was immense and I often reminisced about our adventures and prayed that she was healthy and happy. My busy season is finally over at work!  Though, this week has been unusually busy.  I don’t mind though because it makes the day go by faster.  🙂 (more…)

Lizzy’s Latest – 2018 Top 5 Fall Favorites

It is that time of year again when summer’s farewell lingers like the final notes of a beautifully composed piece of music.  The ambience is sublime and filled with mirthful memories of time well spent.  Holding on for one more hurrah and always one more until there is no more.  Parting is such sweet sorrow tempered by fall’s inevitable tomorrow.  Enticed, fall captivates with colorful landscapes and dancing leaves that fall from above.  The aroma of burning wood on crisp evenings signals the start of sweater weather, boots, and everything else we love about this new season.  For me, it is all of the above and of course, the annual Lizzy’s Latest Top 5 Fall Favorites!   (more…)

August was full of adventure for me!  I was in Savannah, GA earlier in the month and had a wonderful time.  I will detail that trip in a future blog post.  I also spent time with my two Godsons and niece in SC mid-August.  We had an 80s themed party which I will also share in a future blog post.  By the end of August, we were back to photo shooting for the blog.  I cannot wait to feature that post because it deals with the legend of Moll Dyer, a local woman who lived a century or so ago and was rumored to be a witch.  Perfect post for October!  😉  (more…)
