Maryland is such a beautiful state! To this day, we continue to discover amazing treasures such as the War Correspondents Memorial Arch at Gathland State Park in Western Maryland. I was so excited to have a fall photo shoot here because of the gorgeous backdrop. Part of the Appalachian Trail cuts through here and the area is steeped in Civil War history that I was not aware of until we found this hidden gem. I’m hoping to write more about its Civil War past in future blog posts. (more…)
First Corinthians, 13-13: So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
George E. Dixon was a handsome and wealthy young man working in Mobile, AL by the start of the Civil War in 1861. One day, a Southern bell named, Queenie Bennett, caught his eye. Dixon made his affections known to her and when Queenie drew her handkerchief across her lips and looked at him with desire, Dixon knew she was smitten with him too. The warmth of young love filled their hearts and the two began a courtship that would become the stuff of legends. (more…)
I adore XOXO’s mid-calf snake print slouch boots! Snake print is having a moment and I had been coveting snake print boots for some time now, but could never find a pair that felt right to me until these caught my eye. I had to have them! Fortunately, they were on sale and I purchased them immediately. (more…)
When the New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) reunited back in late 2007, I was one of the lucky fans who saw them live on the Today Show on May 16, 2008, their first live concert since 1994! Now an adult, it was exciting and surreal to watch the boyband of my childhood performing right in front of me. Donnie Wahlberg (my favorite New Kid) flashed his million dollar smile at me and my heart raced as I smiled back. (more…)
One of the best things about living in the Washington DC area is the endless options for photo shoot locales. We decided to drive into Washington, DC to check out theBotanic Garden situated on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol. We found great parking just across the street from it and only had to walk a short distance. I was looking forward to the shoot until we walked in: humidity greeted us and the tight walkways were streaming with visitors. I gave my dad a disapproving look, but he still wanted to take some “test” shots. We spent about 15 minutes there before I was over it. Diva behavior according to my dad! 😉 (more…)
As much as I love kids, there was a time when I never wanted any of my own. That mindset evolved to if I ever had kids, I only wanted boys. Then, my brother, Michael, and his wife, Shannon, had my niece, Kristin and that sentiment went out the window. (more…)
When we shot this photo shoot a few weekends ago, it was meant for a mini blog post. My intent was to have a new segment on the blog that would feature fashion inspiration in between full blog posts. It would be my way to stay connected with all of you in the interim because publishing monthly sometimes feels like too long of an absence, at least to me. However, we took so many great shots that I decided to bump the heel/outfit combo I initially had for February and go with this heel/outfit combo instead. And just FYI…the new segment is still in the works. So, stay tuned! (more…)
At dinner with my parents a month ago, Mom asked if I could print a Kohls coupon for her. I assured her I would, and thought nothing more of it. As we continued talking, Mom started nudging Dad and giggling. I could tell Dad did not want to acknowledge what was unspoken between them. Of course, that piqued my curiosity prompting me to ask: (more…)
The weekend we took these pictures, we had no particular destination in mind. Surrendering to wanderlust, we headed to Richmond, our default destination for adventure. Eventually, we settled on the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden named after one of Richmond’s beloved citizens. (more…)
