Lizzy’s Latest – Marc Fisher Nella Over the Knee Boots

Every Christmas I volunteer at the former Museum of the Confederacy (now the American Civil War Museum) for Court End Christmas.  I’ve had the honor of being Santa’s Elf every year and it’s always great catching up with my favorite Santa – the real Santa!  😉

My annual pic with Santa. 🙂

Alexandria, VA: Fort Ward – Farewell my Faithful Friend

This Christmas was especially meaningful to me.  I was enjoying the company of family and creating precious memories, but also grieving my dear friend and Manager, Anna, who was tragically killed in a tour bus crash in Mexico days before Christmas along with her 11-year old son, Daniel, and her recently widowed mother.  Anna’s husband, Moises, and 15-year old son, David, survived, thankfully. One of the best things about living in the Washington DC area is the endless options for photo shoot locales.  We decided to drive into Washington, DC to check out the Botanic Garden situated on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol.  We found great parking just across the street from it and only had to walk a short distance.  I was looking forward to the shoot until we walked in:  humidity greeted us and the tight walkways were streaming with visitors.  I gave my dad a disapproving look, but he still wanted to take some “test” shots.  We spent about 15 minutes there before I was over it.  Diva behavior according to my dad!  😉 (more…)

Washington DC – The Capitol – The Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice Adventure

As much as I love kids, there was a time when I never wanted any of my own.  That mindset evolved to if I ever had kids, I only wanted boys.  Then, my brother, Michael, and his wife, Shannon, had my niece, Kristin and that sentiment went out the window.  (more…)

Lizzy’s Latest – Michael Kors Ciara Embellished Suede Slingback Pumps

There have been times over the last year when a lack of photo shoot planning led to a reliance on spontaneity.  This was one of those weekends.  Call it procrastination or laziness, perhaps a little of both, but I had no particular destination in mind other than it had to be local.  Dad suggested DC, but I was lukewarm to the idea.  The thought of taking pics in a crowd didn’t appeal to me and I was also thinking about my dad’s aversion to jam-packed places.  The last thing I wanted was an aggravated photographer.  😉  However, with no other option, DC became the default location. Washington, DC – Judiciary Square – A First for Everything

Have you ever had the experience of being behind someone in line whose credit card was declined?  You patiently wait as the person insists there must be some mistake!  Ultimately, the person either buys less with cash or leaves empty handed.  Either outcome makes for a very awkward situation.    (more…)

wed-1-img_3021-finalDue to the rain, we remained local for this photo shoot.  Dad and I drove to the Thomas Stone House in Port Tobacco, MD.  If you’re not familiar with the name, you’re not alone.  When I first moved to Southern Maryland, I had no idea who Thomas Stone was either.  However, I quickly learned that Thomas Stone was one of the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence.  That is quite an accomplishment for a humble planter and lawyer. Port Tobacco, Maryland – Thomas Stone House – Kindness and Thanksgiving

1-20161008_114846-final

It’s hard to believe Thanksgiving is next week!  I’ve been in a festive mood since the beginning of November.  I was at the mall and Hallmark was having a special on Christmas cards.  I could not help myself, I purchased two boxes of cards knowing I would probably only need one. (more…)

Lizzy’s Latest – 2016 Top 5 Fall Favorites

cover-shot-1The arrival of Fall, my favorite time of year, softens the blow of Summer’s adieu.  For me, routine replaces spontaneity and the countdown to Christmas begins!  🙂  Fall foliage captivates as I enjoy nature’s wandering work of art dancing all around me in vivid hues of yellow, orange, and red.  Fall’s ephemeral beauty decorates the landscape in a kaleidoscope of leaves while the aroma of firewood fills the crisp evening air, awakening the senses.              (more…)
