Sometimes friendship is a destiny waiting to happen. One of the best gifts of starting my blog is connecting with my followers. One of my first followers is a guy named Mike. Mike has a great page filled with nature, sunsets/sunrises, and history. It’s a perfect trifecta of interests. (more…)
Last weekend, we were blessed with magnificent weather. Low humidity and temps in the upper 70s. Of course, we took advantage of this with multiple photo shoots. We spent Saturday in Richmond and stayed local on Sunday. I will detail the Richmond shoots when I feature those heels. (more…)
April 11, 1865: Washington DC socialite, Miss Clara Harris, was at the White House listening to President Abraham Lincoln address a mostly jubilant crowd. Just a few days before, Confederate General, Robert E. Lee, surrendered his Army of Northern Virginia to Union General, Ulysses S. Grant, at Appomattox Court House. This surrender marked the beginning of the end for the Confederacy and the long fought Civil War.
“And all at once, summer collapsed into fall” (Oscar Wilde). Scorching days have transitioned to crisp mornings and comfortable afternoons. Fall has always been my favorite time of year. I love that chill in the air feeling as it feels so refreshing after months of sweltering heat. I love the kaleidoscope of colors transforming the landscape as leaves enter the sunset of their lives. And when that gust of wind blows, they let go gracefully and obediently, dancing their last dance. The sweet smell of burning wood fills me with warmth and yearning for this new season. Fall embraces me like a warm hug and I am excited for sweater weather, vanilla, pumpkin, and marshmallow swirl candles (great combo, right?!), fabulous fashion, boot season, and best of all, Lizzy’s Latest Top 5 Fall Favorites!(more…)
Lizzy goes to the beach in this installment of Lizzy’s Latest! 😉 If you know me or have been following my blog, you know that I grew up on the beaches of San Diego. Some of my happiest childhood memories happened at the beach with my Forever BFF, Tammy. When we were younger, her dad used to take us and our brothers to the annual sandcastle competition at Imperial Beach. It was so much fun watching artists create spectacular works of art out of sand! When we were preteens, Tammy and I used to be dropped off at the beach where we would enjoy girl time and flirt with the cute boys…surfers for me and skaters for Tammy. Haha! (more…)
A little insight to this shot. It was very sunny that day and sunny days aren’t ideal for good blog pictures. I was standing on that ledge for quite some time waiting for the sun to go behind the clouds. Suddenly, a moment presented itself and it was so fleeting, I didn’t have time to fix my top. So, that’s why my hands are on my top like that. As soon as this shot was taken, the sun was blinding me again. Sigh…so, we decided to move on.
I have been on a good streak with publishing content for the blog. We’ve been so busy with photo shoots these last several months that I don’t know if I will have time to share all the summer heels I’d like to feature here before fall. Plus, I have some Heels on the Battlefield posts in the works for all my history enthusiasts. It’s been a while since I published a history post and I can’t wait to share my latest one with y’all. In the meantime, you can check out two of my favorite Heels on the Battlefield posts from last year, here and here. And let’s not forget, Lizzy’s Latest Top 5 Fall Favorites, a September staple on the blog. (more…)
I had a full weekend of photo shoots a few weekends ago. It was long overdue because I had been procrastinating on blog work. During the downtime, my time was spent in good company taking weekend road trips to towns with Civil War and/or Revolutionary War pasts. We even made a trip to Hersheypark amusement park. We were fortunate that day because the weather was not too hot and the humidity was low making having to wear a mask bearable. (more…)
Is it really August? This summer is going by so fast, but I think I say this every summer. 😉 I bet if we go back to last summer’s posts, there is a similar sentence somewhere. (more…)
I am sooooo late with this post! With work and life so busy (as usual), I must confess, I’ve been procrastinating on the blog. I’ve been wanting to enjoy weekends and road trips and so that’s what I did. I’m certain like many of you, staying indoors for all those months was tough, even for me, a natural homebody. Even homebodies have their limits! 😉 (more…)
I just got back from a 4th of July getaway in Pensacola, FL. This was my first adventure since Christmas. I needed a break and some beach time. I had a lot of fun, was in good company, and hope to share this story on the blog one day. (more…)
