HAPPY NEW YEAR to my family, friends, followers, and visitors! I suppose by now, you’re used to me arriving fashionably late. 😉 I always seem to be chasing time…story of my life. Maryland is such a beautiful state! To this day, we continue to discover amazing treasures such as the War Correspondents Memorial Arch at Gathland State Park in Western Maryland. I was so excited to have a fall photo shoot here because of the gorgeous backdrop. Part of the Appalachian Trail cuts through here and the area is steeped in Civil War history that I was not aware of until we found this hidden gem. While photo shooting a few weekends ago, we encountered this skeleton emerging from a manhole. It was part of a Halloween display decorating the town of La Plata, MD. As soon as I saw it, I knew it would make a great prop poking tongue in cheek fun at all the shoe and feet enthusiasts out there. As a shoe blogger, you can imagine the types of messages I get from these admirers…perhaps, that will be a future blog post! 😉

While driving home one night a few weekends ago, I entered my neighborhood and a familiar scent of burning wood wafted into my car. I breathed it in with a smile and joyous anticipation of the new season. I LOVE fall! It is my favorite season. The weather is as perfect as weather can be in the DMV. Cool mornings, warm afternoons, and crisp evenings. I love that chill in the air and the contentment I feel when I break out a long cardi to blanket me in warmth. I’m looking forward to fall foliage, one of the best attractions of the season. Viewing a panorama of colors is delight to my eyes. The leaves, so brilliant yet fleeting, remind me of life and how it is so important to cherish every moment. With this new season comes the return of boots, the best fashion of the year, football, Halloween screams, and as always…drum roll please…Lizzy’s Latest annual Top 5 Fall Favorites! 🙂 (more…)
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! We certainly did. My beautiful niece, Kristin, had the honor of playing the Virgin Mary in her school’s Passion play this year. It’s not the first time she’s had that honor and we are all so proud of her. Unfortunately, I have no picture to share. Due to the pandemic, it was just an in class production (no audience). Lizzy’s Latest is FINALLY back with a new post! It’s been a whirlwind of a month for me! Work has been crazy busy and I’ve been enjoying weekends with good friends. On one weekend in particular, my BFF, Packy, and I went skiing. It was my first time skiing and OH MY, what an experience! I will definitely detail that adventure in a future blog post. 🙂 (more…)
I had a full weekend of photo shoots a few weekends ago. It was long overdue because I had been procrastinating on blog work. During the downtime, my time was spent in good company taking weekend road trips to towns with Civil War and/or Revolutionary War pasts. We even made a trip to Hersheypark amusement park. We were fortunate that day because the weather was not too hot and the humidity was low making having to wear a mask bearable. (more…)

I just got back from a 4th of July getaway in Pensacola, FL. This was my first adventure since Christmas. I needed a break and some beach time. I had a lot of fun, was in good company, and hope to share this story on the blog one day. (more…)
