Lizzy’s Latest – Top 5 Fall Favorites

While driving home one night a few weekends ago, I entered my neighborhood and a familiar scent of burning wood wafted into my car.  I breathed it in with a smile and joyous anticipation of the new season.  I LOVE fall!  It is my favorite season.  The weather is as perfect as weather can be in the DMV.  Cool mornings, warm afternoons, and crisp evenings.  I love that chill in the air and the contentment I feel when I break out a long cardi to blanket me in warmth.  I’m looking forward to fall foliage, one of the best attractions of the season.  Viewing a panorama of colors is delight to my eyes.  The leaves, so brilliant yet fleeting, remind me of life and how it is so important to cherish every moment.  With this new season comes the return of boots, the best fashion of the year, football, Halloween screams, and as always…drum roll please…Lizzy’s Latest annual Top 5 Fall Favorites! 🙂

1 –  Make a Statement! – Maximalism is trending big time with shoe designs this season.  Think fun patterns like animal print (still current!), rich textures, bold hues, and laser cut styles like this boot from White House Black Market.  Isn’t it love at first sight?!  I adore the burgundy hue, so vibrant and perfect for fall!  I’m a stiletto girl at heart, so the stilettos made the bootie even more appealing to me.  However, what captured my heart was the laser cut detail.  It’s my statement bootie of the moment and I will be sharing these on the blog in the coming months!

2 – Slouchy Boots:  They are always on trend and a cool weather staple.  Slouch boots are my favorite boot silhouette.  There are so many types to choose from too:  ankle booties, mid-calf boots, knee high boots, and over-the-knee (OTK) boots.  I’ve rocked many slouchy boots on the blog in the past.  I love the blush pink hue of this one by Journee Collection.  Something about this color feels so effortlessly chic.  I purchased this boot in the summertime predicting it would be gone by fall and I think it is…but you can still get them in leopard print for that maximalist punch.  😉

3 – Lug Soles – When I started searching for fall shoe inspo, many shoes I came across had “lug soles.”  Lug soles are similar to the soles of hiking boots.  The rubber is thicker and grooves and indentations are deeper to provide better traction.  To me, this design looks masculine and maybe not the best shoe style for my inner girly girl.  😉  However, the designs are slowly growing on me, especially the ones that have a bit of a feminine flair for balance.  This one from Vince Camuto caught my eye because of the buckle detail and high heel.  This pair would look great with boot cut/flare jeans and a feminine top.

4 – Pink  – This is not your typical fall color, but the runways were dripping in fuchsias that will excite the senses.  It goes with Lizzy’s Latest number 1:  Make a Statement.  Bold colors are a great way to maximize fall fashion!  I like this boot from Naturalizer.  The berry fuchsia color and blade heel are fresh and fun!  And…the heel is less than 3 inches for those in my audience who prefer a lower heel.  😉

5 – Pumps –   This shoe style is a fashion staple no matter what the season.  I love a great traditional pump, but sometimes my mood is craving something more.  This by Marc Fisher is a classy and flirty pair.  I love the martini shaped heel and the delicate buckle details.  This will look great with a pencil skirt and some nude pantyhose for that traditional yet modern vibe.

Bonus – And because I love shoes, here is more inspo to get you excited for fall fashion and the imminent cooler weather.

Translucent heels are still current in the fall season.  I own this one by Steve Madden.  I adore the stiletto heels and the rich brown hue.  The see-through sexiness will surely vamp up any outfit.

This pump by Vince Camuto is so elegant!  I love pumps with something extra like the jewel accents on the ankle straps.  Its neutral shade will pair well with many looks and has that chic vibe to it.

This is a White House Black Market creation that I own.  I love the twisty, cut-out details.  It is a fun pair that’s not too high at approximately 3 inches.  The navy blue hue is always a favorite color for me because it’s challenging for me to find shoes in this shade in styles that I like.  I’m soooo picky!

This lug sole boot is from Sam Edelman!  I love the girly pink color!  AND – check out the low heel!  It’s the perfect combat boot for that feminine/masculine combo.  This screams GIRL POWER!  😉

I love mid-shaft boots and this one by Naturalizer is perfect with the trending lug sole.  It has that low heel for everyday appeal.  Urban chic that is practical and functional!  This may be your go-to pair when the temps fall.

Happy Fall, y’all!  I like saying that!  😆  Hope everyone is well and enjoying the new season.  I know I’ve been away too long again and I apologize.  As I told my friend, Joanna, work has been incredibly busy this last month with the government fiscal year end.  I’m hoping to get back to a normal blogging schedule this month.  I still have several summer looks to cycle through before I start sharing fall looks.

Anyway, I hope you found some inspiration and ideas here to make this season your most fashionable one yet!

Do let me know, what are your fall favorites?  And what are some of your fall traditions?

Style with a Smile!

XoXo,

Lizzy
