HAPPY NEW YEAR to my family, friends, followers, and visitors! I suppose by now, you’re used to me arriving fashionably late. 😉 I always seem to be chasing time…story of my life. Sigh…but, I can never stay away for too long. The connection I have with you here always draws me back. 😊 And I couldn’t wait to share the set from this photo shoot! While driving home one night a few weekends ago, I entered my neighborhood and a familiar scent of burning wood wafted into my car. I breathed it in with a smile and joyous anticipation of the new season. I LOVE fall! It is my favorite season. The weather is as perfect as weather can be in the DMV. Cool mornings, warm afternoons, and crisp evenings. I love that chill in the air and the contentment I feel when I break out a long cardi to blanket me in warmth. I’m looking forward to fall foliage, one of the best attractions of the season. Viewing a panorama of colors is delight to my eyes. The leaves, so brilliant yet fleeting, remind me of life and how it is so important to cherish every moment. With this new season comes the return of boots, the best fashion of the year, football, Halloween screams, and as always…drum roll please…Lizzy’s Latest annual Top 5 Fall Favorites! 🙂 (more…)
April 11, 1865: Washington DC socialite, Miss Clara Harris, was at the White House listening to President Abraham Lincoln address a mostly jubilant crowd. Just a few days before, Confederate General, Robert E. Lee, surrendered his Army of Northern Virginia to Union General, Ulysses S. Grant, at Appomattox Court House. This surrender marked the beginning of the end for the Confederacy and the long fought Civil War.

These shots were taken the week after Thanksgiving. I usually take that week off to do the majority of my Christmas shopping and put up the tree. When I noticed one of the days was going to be a balmy 50 degrees, I asked Dad if he could take the day off for a photo shoot. Dad was game and when I suggested the Lincoln Memorial, he was ecstatic. Dad had been wanting to photograph at this location since I started my blog in 2015. It was the perfect time of year too with minimal crowds. (more…)

It is that time of year again when summer’s farewell lingers like the final notes of a beautifully composed piece of music. The ambience is sublime and filled with mirthful memories of time well spent. Holding on for one more hurrah and always one more until there is no more. Parting is such sweet sorrow tempered by fall’s inevitable tomorrow. Enticed, fall captivates with colorful landscapes and dancing leaves that fall from above. The aroma of burning wood on crisp evenings signals the start of sweater weather, boots, and everything else we love about this new season. It was mid-January in Southern Maryland and after a cold spell, Mother Nature gave us a beautiful weekend. Relatively warm days like these are few and far between in the wintertime here, so Dad and I took advantage of the nice weather and scheduled a photo shoot. (more…)
Every Christmas, I look forward to spending time with my Godsons, Andrew and Joshua, and my niece, Kristin. Usually, I get the two older kids, Andrew and Kristin, for a couple of days and we go on an adventure. Last year we went to ICE and this year, we went ice skating. I was so excited to share this experience with them because I loved ice skating as a kid. My Forever BFF, Tammy, and I would spend many Friday nights at the ice skating rink at La Jolla’s University Town Center (UTC) flirting with the cute guys as we skated to our favorite songs.(more…)
Every Christmas I volunteer at the former Museum of the Confederacy (now the American Civil War Museum) for Court End Christmas. I’ve had the honor of being Santa’s Elf every year and it’s always great catching up with my favorite Santa – the real Santa! 😉
