I have to admit, I’ve lived in Southern Maryland for many years now and this was my first time in Solomons Island. It is a quaint town on the Patuxent River/Chesapeake Bay. Very picturesque. It is a perfect destination for a weekend getaway and/or a photo shoot. 🙂

I am slow as molasses when it comes to getting ready. Last August, during my trip to San Diego, my Forever BFF, Tammy, was so bewildered at the length of time it took me to get ready that she woke up early just to observe my morning ritual! This time around, she woke up 30 minutes before we had to leave for our Savannah tour.

The weekend we took these pics, my dad was dealing with a bad cold. He did not let on how sick he was until we were on our way to Western Maryland for this photo shoot. I felt awful and suggested we cancel the shoot, but my dad said he took medicine and was feeling better. So, we headed to Sideling Hill Road Cut (aka The Cut).
Last Saturday, I got to spend time with my Godson, Andrew, and niece, Kristin. On their way to the beach, my brother and his family took a break from their drive for some family time. The kids were excited too about a slumber party with Aunt Lizzy. 🙂
It’s always a great weekend when we can take blog pictures and indulge in Civil War history. My dad and I did exactly that Fourth of July weekend. We toured Union General Ulysses S. Grant’s Headquarters at City Point Museum, located inside Appomattox Manor approximately 8 miles outside Petersburg, VA and part of the Petersburg National Battlefield.
