Lizzy’s Latest – Shoespiration – Sam Edelman Doran Sandals

Hello, my lovelies!  Lizzy’s Latest is finally back with a new post!  It always seems to take forever these days to finish a post with life pulling me in so many different directions.  Yet, no matter how much time has passed, I return.  I truly appreciate your patience during these long absences from the blog.  I have so much content and not a lot of idle time anymore.  So, I continue to seek that balance that will allow me to post more frequently, like I used to.  (more…)

HAPPY NEW YEAR to my family, friends, followers, and visitors!  I suppose by now, you’re used to me arriving fashionably late.  😉  I always seem to be chasing time…story of my life.  Sigh…but, I can never stay away for too long.  The connection I have with you here always draws me back. 😊 And I couldn’t wait to share the set from this photo shoot!  The boots and historic location make this a Heels on the Battlefield classic Lizzy’s Latest trademark blog post.

Lizzy’s Latest – Happy Halloween!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

I can’t believe my last post was on the 4th of July!  Time always has a way of escaping me.  Sigh…but, I’m back now with a new post featuring the classic and classy Sam Edelman Hazel black patent pumps.  Aren’t they so sexy?!  Of course, I am wearing torturedSoles non-slip pads to keep my narrow heels in the pumps.  🙂

I’ve been traveling A LOT this year.  That’s part of the reason why I’ve been absent from the blog.  However, being the paranormal enthusiast that I am, I could not miss posting for Halloween.  I’ve had such a fun month!  It started with a girls trip to Salem, MA with my two besties:  my childhood Forever BFF, Tammy, and my college BFF, Packy.  We had a bonus friend, Beatriz, who is Packy’s friend from her neighborhood.  I was really excited about this trip because I’ve always been interested in the witch trials of 1692.  During the hysteria, 19 people were found guilty of witchcraft and executed by hanging.  The 20th victim was a man named Giles Corey.  Corey was pressed (crushed) to death over three days because he refused to enter a plea.

Today, Salem’s Puritan past remains in the past.  It is now an eclectic town with a festive atmosphere.  It reminded me a little of New Orleans (minus the public drinking) with throngs of people wandering the historic district and browsing the mom and pop shops, many of which were witch and occult shops.  Spooky!  I remember asking where the “normal” souvenir shops were.

Can you spot, Tammy, Beatriz, and Packy??? 😉

We ran into many spooky characters!

We took a day tour our first day in Salem.  Our guide was wonderful and gave us a great intro to Salem’s history as well as other notable facts.  I quickly learned much of Hocus Pocus was filmed there.  I’ve never seen Hocus Pocus, but it is now on my list of movies to watch.  Several episodes of Bewitched were filmed in Salem too!  There is a statue of Elizabeth Montgomery across from the Gulu-Gulu Cafe

Beatriz took this capture of me with my besties at the Bewitched statue on our last night in Salem. Packy couldn’t resist buying a witch hat. Lol!

Lizzy’s Latest – St. John’s Episcopal Church – HAPPY 4TH of JULY!!!

My enthusiasm for Civil War history made Richmond, VA a frequent place of adventure for me and my dad.  Yet, Richmond boasts Revolutionary War history as well!  One weekend, we stumbled upon this sign at The Poe Museum (more…)

Shoespiration – Naturalizer Jagger Boot

Surprise!  Lizzy’s Latest is featuring a lower-heeled boot on the blog.  This post is for all of you who love heels, but just can’t wear them.  The Jagger boot merges chic style with all day comfort.  My only gripe is that they are a bit heavy.  I tend to prefer lighter weight boots, but they are cozy for colder temperatures. Lizzy’s Latest – Happy New Year 2023!

HAPPY NEW YEAR to my family, friends, followers, and visitors!  As usual, I’m fashionably late with posting.  Sigh!  I hope y’all had a great holiday!  Christmas here was a little smaller because my brother, Michael, and his family were not able to make it up from NC this year.  So, my annual Christmas pic with the kiddies was replaced with a snap of me with the rest of my family. Lizzy’s Latest – BCBGeneration Jalila Sandals

I’m slowly acclimating back to blogging after so much time off.  It’s all coming back to me now.  😉 In my previous post, I mentioned I wasn’t sure if I would do a review of these heels because I’d like to move on to fall shoes.  In the end, I decided to write a review post because I had more pics in this shoot to share.  So, why not? Lizzy’s Latest – Vince Camuto Elisen Buckle Lug Sole Booties

Maryland is such a beautiful state!  To this day, we continue to discover amazing treasures such as the War Correspondents Memorial Arch at Gathland State Park in Western Maryland.  I was so excited to have a fall photo shoot here because of the gorgeous backdrop.  Part of the Appalachian Trail cuts through here and the area is steeped in Civil War history that I was not aware of until we found this hidden gem.  I’m hoping to write more about its Civil War past in future blog posts.  (more…)

Lizzy’s Latest – Burnside Bridge at Antietam Battlefield – Merry Christmas 2021

MERRY CHRISTMAS to my family, friends, followers, and visitors!  I can’t believe how fast December flew.  It felt like just yesterday I was writing out Christmas cards.  Now, I will enjoy “Midnight” Mass at 8PM this evening with my parents.  Then after, I will be up late wrapping presents and baking my famous chocolate chip cookies.

My sister, Jeanette, and my brother, Michael, and his family will arrive tomorrow afternoon just in time for Dad’s legendary turkey feast and chocolate pudding pie – mont blanc, anyone?  😉  I can’t wait!  It is such a joyous time of year for me and my family.

Yet, I also realize this time of year can be difficult and challenging for some.  People who are alone and/or estranged from family and/or friends.  I’ve had years like that in the past growing up and it’s not a good feeling.  Long before my deeper conversion to my Catholic faith (read about it here), I was spiritually lost.  I ignored the true meaning of Christmas and blamed God for whatever suffering I was struggling with, never looking myself in the mirror for the true architect of my misery…me.  (more…)
