HAPPY 4TH of JULY, my family, friends, followers, and visitors! It is Independence Day here in the United States. It was on this day 248 years ago that 13 courageous colonies declared their independence from Great Britain (July 4, 1776). You can read more about the history from my 4th of July post from last year here. 🙂 (more…)
So, I have to give credit to my dad for suggesting a carnival photo shoot for the 4th of July. When we were throwing out ideas, I thought it would be cool to take a drive to Williamsburg, VA and check out the President Heads. When I showed Dad some pics, he scoffed and reminded me my stilettos would get dirty in the mud. OK … maybe, not my best idea, but I was also a little hesitant about the carnival thinking it would be too crowded. Dad assured me we would go before it opened and despite my reticence, I agreed for lack of a better location. (more…)
On this day two hundred forty five years ago, America’s founders declared independence from England. Today, Independence Day is a grand celebration and what better way to celebrate the 4th than going to a hometown carnival! (more…)
Hello, my lovelies! I can’t tell you how excited I am to feature the INC Kenjay pumps on the blog. I’ve had the heels for some time now, but could not find the perfect outfit. This look came together a bit organically. I think I found the green coated jeans first and then the sweater, both from White House Black Market (on sale!). I wasn’t sure about the sweater because it is so voluminous and my petite frame always seems to drown in “big” tops. However, pics are always about the angles and Dad has become a bit of a pro at finding the right angles…or perhaps it’s me telling him to take more pics. Haha…sorry, Dad! We’ll just say it’s a combination of both. 😉 (more…)
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my family, friends, followers, and visitors! 2021 will be an epic year, I can feel it! 😉 Do y’all do resolutions? I do not. Resolutions are so easily broken. Haha! Instead, I focus on being a better version of myself than the previous year. For 2021, that will entail getting out of my comfort zone, particularly when it comes to nature. (more…)
When the New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) reunited back in late 2007, I was one of the lucky fans who saw them live on the Today Show on May 16, 2008, their first live concert since 1994! Now an adult, it was exciting and surreal to watch the boyband of my childhood performing right in front of me. Donnie Wahlberg (my favorite New Kid) flashed his million dollar smile at me and my heart raced as I smiled back. (more…)
Hello, Spring! I am happy that Winter is behind us now. I’m looking forward to wearing shorts, summer dresses, and everything in between again. 🙂 I’ve already started my Spring/Summer shoe shopping list (no purchases yet because it’s still Lent!) and it seems like lace up shoes are having a moment. I see them everywhere now which makes the Steve Madden Sambaa lace up heels so relevant. (more…)
One concept I would love to learn more about is affiliate marketing for bloggers. I believe this is an important tool in promoting my brand and reaching new audiences. My blogger friend, Eccentric Owl, has a great post on affiliate marketing and I wanted to share her post with you. For now, because of lack of time, I rely on word of mouth advertising from family and friends. I also post on social media sites like Instagram and Facebook. (more…)
2016 started off with a bang! Rather than sleeping in on the first day of the new year, we got up early for this photo shoot. To preserve as much daylight as possible, we didn’t venture too far out of the neighborhood. Instead we drove to my dad’s office in Alexandria, VA. Founded in 1749, the city has been a prominent witness of history since its founding. I highly recommend a walking tour of Alexandria if you’re ever in the area. (more…)
The majority of people I interact with on this blog are quite genuine and supportive. Sometimes, though, motives can be deceiving and sometimes, things aren’t always as they seem. A few weeks ago, someone named Nan Goldin contacted me. (more…)
