Lizzy’s Latest – Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  St. Patrick, patron saint of Ireland, had an interesting life.  He was kidnapped into slavery by Irish pirates when he was just 16-years old.  While enslaved, St. Patrick worked as a shepherd and learned the Irish language.  During this time, he found comfort in prayer and developed a relationship with God.  One night in a dream, God instructed St. Patrick to find his way to the coast.  There he would find a boat that would free him from his captors.  Obeying God’s advice, St. Patrick indeed found a ship that sailed him home.

In the years that followed, St. Patrick became a priest and eventually returned to Ireland.  He spent the remainder of his life preaching the Gospel, building churches, and converting pagans.  It is believed he died on March 17th, the day we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

On this day, we remember the arrival of Christianity in Ireland in 432AD by celebrating Irish culture and heritage.  Or in layman’s terms, we drink, party (unfortunately, not this year), and wear green!  😊

Some of my green is on my shirt.  I saw this shamrock top back in January while shopping for jean shorts for my Washington Nationals shoot.  The pretty green shamrock caught my eye and I knew I wanted to share it in a St. Patrick’s Day post.

I paired the top with grey jeans and green Nine West Florent strappy pumps.  I love the green hue of the pumps and the stylish straps.  The heels are very eye-catching, at least to me.

We took these shots on a golf course in Southern Maryland.  I wanted something similar to the rolling green hills of Ireland.  We got some hills, but no match for the beauty of Ireland.  Oh well, it’s the thought that counts, right?  😉

Have a great rest of your week!  I’m certain many of you are probably working from home because Coronavirus (COVID-19) is suspending much of normal life.  It’s sad how much our lives have been altered by this disease.

I’m working from home indefinitely.  Schools are canceled.  Games are canceled.  Gyms bars, and restaurants are closed.  Some cities are taking drastic measures.  San Francisco just announced a mandatory lockdown banning its citizens from leaving their homes with few exceptions.  How far will this go?!  Will these lockdowns and closures be precedent for when the next pandemic occurs?

Whatever the case, we will persevere as we always do!  And enjoy family time!  It’s not often we are “forced” to stay home and spend this much time with family, right?  😉

Try not to give into fear.  Practice social distancing, remember to wash your hands often, and avoid touching your face!  Remain patient and hopeful.  In times of uncertainty, remember St. Patrick found solace in prayer.  You can too.  I know I do.

There is a lot of lore surrounding St. Patrick. It is said that St. Patrick used a three-leaf clover to describe the Holy Trinity. However, my shamrock is a lucky four-leaf-clover. 🙂

Another legend is about St. Patrick driving snakes out of Ireland. As such, he is often seen stomping on snakes in artwork.

  1. You have a great perspective Lizzy. It’s been hard with all of these changes, but we are strong (even though I am going crazy…ha ha)
I just love your green shoes. How is it that I don’t have any this color. I’m thinking that needs to be remedied soon!!

    1. Thank you, Jodie! Hmmm…I’m thinking your could distract yourself with some online shoe shopping for a pair of green heels. 😉 Stay safe!

  2. Your tee is so cute- def perfect for St. Patty’s! And loving the heels- killer choice!

We had to cancel all our St. Patrick’s Day plans because of city-wide social distancing orders. It was sad and disappointing, but so necessary in such a crazy time. I’m working from home, too- at least until April 23rd but I imagine it could easily be longer.

    Stay safe + well!

    1. Thank you, Ashley! It is sad and disappointing, but important to flatten the curve as the experts say. Glad you have the option of working from home too. We are lucky in that respect. Stay safe, my friend!
