Solomon’s Island, Maryland – Andrew’s Making Money

Hersheypark amusement park in Hershey, PA is such a happy place.  I was so excited to return last July with my Godson, Andrew.  Earlier in the summer, I had taken his sister, Kristin, to the park and we had a wonderful time.  This time around, I looked forward to riding more roller coasters because Andrew is taller than Kristin.  🙂

Andrew’s a Hershey’s, one candy taller than Kristin. 🙂

We spent a few hours at Hershey’s Chocolate World where Andrew and I created our own candy bar.  We caught a 4D Chocolate Mystery movie, and even had time to take Hershey’s Chocolate Tour, an immersive ride showing the transformation of cocoa beans to chocolate.

Andrew’s excited about making his candy bar!

Eventually, Andrew and I headed into the park for Hersheypark’s “Preview day.”  This gave us admission to the park 2.5 hours before closing the day before the actual visit.  We went straight for the roller coasters.  🙂  Andrew knew from Kristin that I love sitting in the front car of a roller coaster, so he knew what line to be in on all the rides.  😉

Andrew is so competitive too!  On Lightning Racer, a wooden racing/dueling coaster, we had to pick which side to ride.  Then, the two coasters raced.  Fortunately, we picked the winning side.  When I asked Andrew if he wanted to ride it again, his response was, “No, because what if we lose next time?”  I didn’t get Andrew’s logic until he told me we would have to ride the ride as many times as it took to win if we got on again and lost.  Forget that!  😉

Even at the hotel, everything was a race to him.  He wanted to race up the stairs instead of taking the elevator.  Of course, I’m not one to shy away from competition, so it was game on between us.  🙂  I will admit he won a couple times, but I beat him too!

The next day, our full day at the park, I told Andrew my East Coast BFF, Packy, was going to be at the park with her kids and we would meet them when they got here.  Packy arrived a little before lunchtime and we met them for a few minutes before parting ways for a few hours.  Packy’s kids are still too young for roller coasters, so she took them on the kiddie rides and the waterpark.

My East Coast BFF, Packy!  She might be familiar because I wrote about her last year when she came to a summer concert with me.  Tristan, her son,  would not let his mom take a pic without him. 😉 .

Trinity, Tristan, and Andrew. Tristan can’t believe how tall Andrew is! 😉

Andrew and I rode many rides and even took in a musical.  We sat in the front row and several times Andrew asked, “When is this going to be over?”  I told him soon and at the end when the boy and girl kissed, Andrew looked over at me and exclaimed,

“This is soooo inappropriate, Aunt Lizzy!”

Everyone around us looked over…how embarrassing!

Back in the heat and humidity, I bought Andrew a souvenir cup that gave him free refills on his favorite flavored ICEEs.  We got in line at the Fun House, where the indoor coaster Kristin and I love is located.  When we got on the ride, Andrew started singing loudly:

“I’M MAKING MONEY, YEAH, YEAH, I’M MAKING MONEY…I’M SO RICH…I’M SO RICH…”

I was shocked!  Was this a song?!  Andrew never confirmed it and the more I protested the louder he got!  In fact, he recited these words on almost every ride we got on…after he realized its effect on me!  Sigh…that’s Andrew for you!  😉

We met up with Packy later that afternoon and ran into some of the Hershey’s characters.  Andrew gets shy in public because when I told him to go pose with each character, he suggested I be in the picture with him.  Sweet!  So, we got some nice shots together.  🙂

Afterwards, Packy got in line for an airplane ride.  I asked Andrew if he wanted to go on it and he balked!  He said,

“That ride is for BABIES!”

He then wanted me to refill his cup while he waited with Packy.  I did and when I returned, I found Andrew on the ride!  I immediately took out my phone and got some shots of him.  When he saw me, he knew he was caught! Haha!

Caught you, Andrew!!!

Andrew can’t believe it!

We went on a few more family rides with Packy and her kids.  On the bumper cars, her daughter, Trinity, was too little, so I took her while Packy took Andrew and her son, Tristan, on the ride.  I walked around with Trinity and took her on some of the baby rides.  She was soooo adorable!  Her face was so animated on the rides that she caught the attention of several people in line who could not stop staring at her cuteness.  🙂

Trinity is a future fashion blogger! 🙂

The day went by so fast!  Andrew and I said goodbye to Packy, Tristan, and Trinity.  Then, we rode a few more roller coasters and ended the night on Skyview, a roundtrip ride up in the sky giving great views of the park.  I explained to Andrew that Kristin wanted us to start this tradition of making Skyview our last ride because it was so relaxing.  He agreed.  🙂

Andrew was eagerly awaiting that big wave coming his way.

He got soaked!  He also wanted me to feature his new sneakers on the blog.  They are Under Armour, Stephen Curry.  We got them at the Under Armour outlet in Hershey.  🙂

I love this jumping shot of Andrew!

Have a wonderful week!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day.  We celebrated my mom with dinner, an ice cream cake, and presents.  🙂

Lizzy’s Latest for this week is the Jessica Simpson Beeya Two-Piece Platform Sandals.  My review of these heels will post on Wednesday of next week.  For now, enjoy the pictures.
