Shoespiration – Calvin Klein Strappy Sandals

I’ve had quite the adventure these last several weeks.  With spring in full swing and the weather staying consistently nice, the shopping bug hit me!  I’ve been sooooooo good since Christmas and I gave up shopping for Lent.  So, I was seriously itching for some retail therapy after Easter.  I told myself I would remain disciplined, but then one pair of heels became two pairs of heels.  Then, three pairs of heels became four pairs of heels.  And after the fifth pair, I stopped counting.  Sigh…so much for discipline!  I confess, I’m a shoe addict!

I’ve also been indulging in reading again.  One of my favorite genres is historical fiction and I usually read about Ancient Rome and/or Ancient Egypt.  This time, I picked up a book about World War II titled “Lilac Girls” by Martha Hall Kelly.  It’s partly about a Polish girl who is taken to a concentration camp soon after Hitler’s invasion of Poland.  It was a great read and I learned a lot in this book.  I may even do a history post about the things that went on at that concentration camp.  Quite horrific as you can imagine.

In between shopping and reading, I was working on this blog post.  My intent was to publish last Friday, but we had an emergency in the family.  My sister, Jeanette, an avid and experienced horseback rider, called us after an accident last Wednesday.  After her ride, the owner of the farm where she leases her horse, asked my sister to get on a pony.  The owner was training the wild pony.  My sister was hesitant because it was getting late and there was no saddle on the pony.  However, she ignored her misgivings and got on the pony.  No good deed goes unpunished, right?  The pony began trotting unexpectedly causing my sister to lose her balance and fall very hard on her left side.  She could not get up and was in excruciating pain.  The owner drove her to the ER and we met her there.  Jeanette was scared because of the pain and uncertainty; one nurse even suggested she might need emergency surgery if her femur was broken.  SURGERY?!

Fortunately, no broken bones.  The doctor said she probably just has a deep bruise and should be on the mend in the coming days.  He prescribed some pain meds and gave her crutches.  We got her back home and she is now in recovery mode, but still barely able to walk.  I asked her if this was enough to make her stop riding.  Surprisingly, Jeanette said this accident did not scare her into giving up her riding passion.  On the contrary, she can’t wait to get back on her horse.  God bless her!  I’ve only been on a horse once and the whole time I kept thinking about not wanting to end up like Christopher Reeve!

Now on to this look and heels.  🙂  These shots were taken a few years ago at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond.  This was the last heel/outfit combo for that afternoon and we took these shots close to closing time.  So, we did not get a lot of pics for this look.

The flowers were in full bloom!  I decided my favorite flower is the Saucer Magnolia.  I love pretty pink flowers.  A nice contrast to the navy blue Calvin Klein sandals I wore with this look.  I got these heels several years ago and threw away the box.  So, I don’t remember the official name of this heel, but I have worn them before with a dress and you can check out that look here.  These are one of my favorite navy blue heels to wear.  I love the straps on them and the stiletto heels add a level of sexiness.  The sandals are quite comfortable too.

Have a wonderful new week and enjoy the pics.  I am working on the next post which I will publish in the next week or two.

Style with a Smile!
