Lizzy’s Latest – Holysouq Collaboration

Back in late April, I received a collaboration request from Holysouq, an online family owned business in Jerusalem specializing in handcrafted leather products such as handbags, leather accessories, and souvenirs.  Camel, their shoe division, specializes in a variety of summer flat sandals for women and men.  Their sandals are handmade by an expert team of crafters using only green materials in their production process.

Initially, I was not sure I wanted to participate in this partnership because my fashion passion on the blog is heels.  However, in that same instant, I remembered there is a segment of my audience who appreciate the look of heels, but simply can’t wear them.  So, this post is especially for all of you.  Plus, I did do another collaboration a few years ago featuring a pair of summer flats.  Remember?  So, there is precedent.  😉

When I perused the Holysouq site, I was pleasantly impressed with the variety of leather sandals available.  I immediately found one I truly adored!  It is the very unique flower toe-thong sandals in the cover shot.  I had never seen anything like it before and knew I had to share it with all of you.  I was graciously gifted this pair and another “surprise me” pair to feature on the blog.

The flower toe-thong sandals have a rustic feel to them, so we stayed local and headed to the Dr. Samuel A. Mudd House Museum.  In the field, there is a camp recreation where the 16th New York Volunteer Cavalry occupied the Mudd farmhouse for a time.  It was the perfect stage for this shoot.

For a change, I didn’t have to worry about my heels sinking into the grass or getting stuck in the wooden boards.  The sandals are so comfortable and so beautiful.  We took so many pictures of these lovely flats.  I got many compliments too.  A man and his aunt were fascinated with the flower thong and wondered how it stayed on my feet.  Not understanding my explanation, I ended taking off one shoe to show him.  He was quite impressed with the craftsmanship and told me I should suggest this sandal be made in a variety of colors.  I couldn’t agree more!  These sandals are my favorite summertime flats!  I paired them with this polka dot off-the-shoulder dress completing my summer style for this look.

Now, I would consider the second pair of strappy sandals more practical than girly.  Yet, like the flower toe-thong sandals, this pair is very comfortable.  I can see myself running errands in these and/or exploring a new city, perhaps Jerusalem?  The sandals have an old world vibe, but the strappy toe-thong give it a modern flair.

Going with that modern flair mood, I paired the sandals with black shorts and a floral off-the-shoulder top.  Being a girly-girl, I had to add a little femininity to this look, but you can make it your own.  🙂

I hope you will check out Holysouq!  Lizzy’s Latest highly recommends this wonderful small business.  They have so many nice sandals at very competitive prices (less than $50!).  Located in the old city of Jerusalem, Holysouq creates stylish versions of ancient Holyland styles as well as some contemporary creations of their own.  Holysouq sandals are a must-have this summer and every summer.

Style with a Smile!  🙂

PS:  Dad and I had an unexpected history adventure at this shoot.  I will detail it in a companion post to this in the coming weeks.  Bonus:  You’ll also get to see more shots of me in the flower toe-thong sandals.  🙂
