These shots were taken the week after Thanksgiving. I usually take that week off to do the majority of my Christmas shopping and put up the tree. When I noticed one of the days was going to be a balmy 50 degrees, I asked Dad if he could take the day off for a photo shoot. Dad was game and when I suggested the Lincoln Memorial, he was ecstatic. Dad had been wanting to photograph at this location since I started my blog in 2015. It was the perfect time of year too with minimal crowds. (more…)
When I began my blog journey some years ago, our go-to destination for photo shoots was Richmond, VA. Richmond is steeped in Civil War history and remnants of the Old South’s charm still feel warm and inviting. Edgar Allan Poe remained true to his art. He had so many opportunities to lead a life of practicality, but he always found ways to flee complacency. For Poe’s passion was writing and he was determined to earn a living wage through his fictions. He would be the first American writer to attempt this, but his efforts never translated to enduring financial success. (more…)
