Point Lookout, MD – Proud American
Not too long ago, I received an email that surprised me. A nice woman from Australia connected with me using the Contact form on my website. She needed shoes for her son’s wedding and wanted to know more of my thoughts on the Enzo Angiolini Leluna sandals I featured in week two of my blog.
What was surprising to me is that she is not on Facebook or Instagram. Rather, she found my site through an internet search for shoes to wear to a wedding. This is exciting for me because it marks the first time that I’m aware of my brand reaching an audience beyond social media platforms. It must mean my website is ranking higher in searches. It must mean I am doing something right. 🙂
Closer to home, my favorite fashionista, The Shoe Maven (@theshoemaven) included me in a 4th of July roll call on Instagram. It was totally unexpected and I am so thankful! I consider her a mentor and it means a lot to me that she is looking out for me. I think every new blogger should have a mentor like the Shoe Maven! She is the best!
Speaking of the 4th of July, I hope everyone had a safe and fun weekend. It has become tradition for me and my dad to do something related to the Civil War on the 4th of July. We were at Harper’s Ferry in 2013, Bull Run battlefield in 2014, and this year we visited the Cold Harbor and Gains’ Mill battlefields.
It never gets old either because every battlefield has a story. For me, experiencing American history on the 4th of July is extremely meaningful. As I stand on sacred ground, I remember all the sacrifices past and present that makes America so great. Yes, I am very proud American! 🙂
Pictures were taken at Point Lookout, Maryland. It is a Peninsula created by the Chesapeake Bay on one side and the Potomac River on the other side. It is a beautiful destination if you like doing outdoorsy stuff. I will have a separate blog post on this eventually.
Have a wonderful week!
Lizzy’s Latest for this week is the Marc Fisher Coley Wedge Sandals. I will give my review of these sandals in the next day or two. For now, enjoy the pictures. 🙂
