Lizzy’s Latest – Vince Camuto Fendels Stiletto Boots

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!Β  We certainly did.Β  My beautiful niece, Kristin, had the honor of playing the Virgin Mary in her school’s Passion play this year.Β  It’s not the first time she’s had that honor and we are all so proud of her.Β  Unfortunately, I have no picture to share.Β  Due to the pandemic, it was just an in class production (no audience).Β  I’ve featured stories about Kristin on the blog throughout the years and you can find one of those stories here.Β Β

For this photo shoot, we traveled to Richmond.Β  It was early November and that weekend was an unusual weekend.Β  There were rallies/protests that popped up at every state capitol across the country.Β  We were unaware of this until we got to Richmond and saw streets closed off.Β  We had planned to take shots at the Virginia State Capitol, but had to quickly make other plans because the Capitol was off limits.Β  Sigh…

So, we drove around downtown Richmond and eventually found a quiet area near a bank.Β  We parked and got to work.Β  As I walked and posed, I loved how comfortable these tall boots felt.Β  The stiletto heels are approximately 4 inches, but they didn’t feel that high.Β  Perhaps, I’m just used to wearing high heels.Β  πŸ˜‰

The navy blue hue also caught my eye.Β  It’s so hard to find navy blue stiletto boots that appeal to me.Β  So, when I do find a pair I like, I buy them.Β  I felt so tall and sexy in these boots.Β  😊 And as you can see, the shaft height of the boots hit me just below the knee.Β  I was a little concerned the shaft height would be too tall because I am vertically challenged (5’4”), but that was not the case with these boots.

Unfortunately, the boots are no longer widely available.Β  You can still find them in other colors here, but sizing is very limited.Β  You can also find them here with more availability.Β  Or, you can do an internet search for β€œVince Camuto Fedels Stiletto Boots” and see what pops up.Β

I paired the boots with a blue plaid skirt, blue sweater, and nude color pantyhose for an office chic look.Β  Of course, you can also pair the boots with dresses and shorts with nylons/tights for a variety of looks.Β  Like many of the other heels featured on the blog, these boots are so versatile.Β

As we continued to take pictures, we decided we wanted pics of me posing at the building’s revolving door.Β  We took several shots there without incident.Β  We left and took other shots elsewhere before coming back to take more shots at the revolving door.Β  That’s when a less than friendly rent-a-cop type man came out and told us we had to leave the premises because it was β€œprivate” bank property.Β  What?!Β  He was very annoying, but we obliged and walked across the street to another building.

We liked this building for all the mirrors.Β  Unfortunately, Dad got less than 4 shots in before another rent-a-cop type guy came out saying we couldn’t take pictures there either.Β  He was much nicer than the first guy and very apologetic. So, we picked up our stuff and walked away, but as we walked away, we saw the first guy come over to talk to this guy.Β  It became clear the first guy had monitored us and most likely called over to the other building to instruct the second guy to crash our party.Β  What an afternoon!Β  Fortunately, we were about done with this heel/outfit combo.Β

We’d never experienced this kind of resistance before.Β  Normally, people are happy to see us and welcome us with open arms.Β  I guess with all the events happening in Richmond that weekend, everyone was on edge and on alert.Β  Β Β Β

Have a great week, my lovelies!Β  I do apologize for the tardiness of this post.Β  Work was unusually busy these last few weeks.Β  So, I appreciate your constant patience and regular visits to the blog checking in for updates.Β  Lizzy’s Latest will be back with a new post featuring a new pair of heels in the next week or two!Β

Style with a Smile!

XoXo,

  1. Elizabeth what a beautiful photo shoot almost end of boot season, gorgeous smiles as always beautiful outfit but the awesome writing of the history and your time to write a beautiful blog !! Thanks for your investment of time to share with your LizzyLatest fan club !!! Happy April

    1. I’m so glad you enjoyed this post, Mike! It makes all the time I spent putting it together well worth it. You always write beautiful and thoughtful comments. Thank you! And, I’m ready to retire the boots and get back to featuring sandals. It was a long winter! Glad it’s over. πŸ™‚ Happy April, my friend! We should catch up soon!

  2. They are fun posts and it’s good you got some photos in – it’s so sad that people are protesting so much in the US but nothing seems to change – there are so many problems there πŸ™

Hope that your week is going well πŸ™‚

    1. I’m glad I got these shots in too, Mica. πŸ™‚ Yes, there seems to be unhappy people everywhere in the world. The event going on while we were in Richmond was peaceful. So, no worries there. :). I’m so happy tomorrow is Friday. Hope you are having a wonderful week too. And…happy weekend! πŸ™‚

  3. Hi Lizzy! I had no idea this was November. This outfit is perfect for the Spring too because of the light blue sweater. I only in this post noticed that the skirt also has blue woven in it! Speaking of being vertically challenged, I am 5’3” so I totally know what you mean and most of my heels are the higher ones πŸ™‚. You look beautiful and certainly tall in these photos. It is great you are able to focus more on the blog as work is getting less intense. Do post more please! I’m curious, have you tried my confidence-boosting trick yet? I continue relying on it, including today! πŸ™‚

    1. Hi Joanna! πŸ™‚ Yes, I don’t like taking pics when it’s cold, so we got the majority of our photo shoots in before winter. I’m glad you could see this as a transitional look to spring. Oh my gosh! I didn’t realize you are vertically challenged too. LOL! Well, it gives us more reason to love heels. πŸ˜‰ You are so sweet! Thank you for your comments. I have not tried your confidence-boosting trick yet…but perhaps, I will do so in the coming months. It’s always in the back of my mind. πŸ˜‰ You always look beautiful in your outfits. In fact, I was wondering what you wore for Easter this year?! Hope you had a good one! I should have more time this weekend. I will drop you a line to catch up. πŸ™‚ Have a great weekend!

  4. We got pushed around a lot during this photoshoot. More so than ever before or since. Everywhere we went it seemed there was a security guard ready to tell us to go away. There were protestors too. Not too many and the few we encountered were very friendly. Even so the air of hostility related to the cause they were protesting could not be denied. Sadly all the negativity we encountered this day is not out of character with the way Richmond itself has changed.

For years, even before Lizzy’s Latest was founded, Richmond was a favorite destination of ours. We fell in love with the city’s rich history and we made many good friends there. Now the city is openly hostile to its own history and too people there are hell bent on destroying and defacing every once beautiful vestige of it. It doesn’t matter that the totality of what these maniacs know of their own history could be printed on a postage stamp, they rule the day and they do so in an ugly way. The once beautiful monuments along the city’s Monument Ave are now mangled and covered in filth. The β€œConfederate White House” which is where Abraham Lincoln himself negotiated with the city’s civilian leaders to spare the city from destruction so that it could be used in a good way to repair the Union, is now boarded up and imperiled by kooks and thugs who think burning it down is the way to achieving racial harmony.

Richmond will survive and Lizzy’s Latest will return again for future shoots, but the places where we take pictures, like the rest of the city, will never be as grand as they once were.

    1. Thank you for more insight into this shoot, Dad! We definitely enjoyed talking to the protesters and hearing about their cause. They were very friendly to us.

It is sad how much Richmond has changed since the Civil War’s sesquicentennial in 2011. The people running Richmond are not really running Richmond at all. The city has been dying a slow death under their “leadership.” They have bitten the hand that feeds them (tourism) and in time, Richmond will become another Petersburg. I’m so grateful we got to experience Richmond when it was beautiful and thriving. I will cherish all the times we spent there and the pics we took during those times.

One thing to note, you are correct, the White House of the Confederacy was closed that day we were there. However, it re-opened for tours on 3/25 with enhanced security measures.

    1. Thank you, Kathrine! And thank you for your concern. We got the shoot done despite the mean security guards and we are grateful for that. πŸ™‚ Happy weekend to you too! I am keeping you in my prayers and hope you don’t have any bad reaction from the J&J vaccine. I’m sure you will be ok.

  5. First, my mom is a huge fan of navy boots and just wore her this week on the blog (granted, they are flats, but still…)
This look is absolutely beautiful on you Lizzy. Truly so polished and so fabulous!!
We’ve gotten told to stop taking photos in a mall once. It’s crazy because people take photos on their phone all the time, but it’s not okay with a camera!!

    1. Oh yay! Whenever, Charlotte likes something I like, I smile. I see her as an OG fashionista. πŸ˜‰

      Thank you, Jodie!

Yeah – glad you could relate to our experience. It was such a strange photo shoot day with all the negativity from the security guards. We’d been to Richmond a million times before and never experienced that. I guess there is a first for everything. Happy weekend, my friend!

    1. Hi Margot…thank you! Yeah…that day was just an anomaly. I’m glad we got these pics too. Have a great rest of your week!
