Lizzy’s Latest – La Plata, MD – Out and About

Is it really August?  This summer is going by so fast, but I think I say this every summer.  😉  I bet if we go back to last summer’s posts, there is a similar sentence somewhere.

Last weekend, we spent the entire weekend on photo shoots.  We remained in Southern Maryland on Saturday and then traveled to the beaches on the Eastern Shore of MD on Sunday.  I had my first photo shoot on the beach and I cannot wait to share that moment with all of you!  The beach is one of my happy places.  I don’t get to visit as much as I used to living in San Diego.  So, anytime I’m near a beach, I have to touch the sand and the ocean.

On the home front, we lost our cable for over a week.  Long story…thanks, Mom!  😉  Comcast sucks … again!  Now, I know many of you, like my sister, have canceled cable, but I can’t live without it.  I love my Travel Channel for its paranormal focus…Ghost Adventures, anyone?  I also love the Discovery and History channels.  Living without TV for over a week was tough.  However, I realized as the week went on, I acclimated and found other interests.  I could also stream shows on my laptop and I got back to listening to music more.  It was a nice reprieve, but I was happy to finally get the cable back yesterday.  And yes, Ghost Adventures is on right now as I compose this post.  Can you live without cable?

Have a great weekend!  Lizzy’s Latest is featuring the Vince Camuto Sathina dress sandals.  The review of these heels will come in the next week or two, probably sooner, because I have a backlog of summer heels to share in the coming weeks.  So, come back and visit often.  In the meantime, enjoy the pictures!

Style with a Smile!

XoXo,

    1. Thank you, Bryce! I’m so glad you enjoyed the post. It was really great catching up with you this week. Thank you for surprising me! I appreciated our talk so much. And, I’m excited for you and Chipper on this new adventure. I hope to see you both soon…whether in Chincoteague or Richmond. 🙂 Have a great weekend, my friend!

    1. That’s great, Jodie! I think if I had to continue without cable, eventually I would get used to it. Glad you like the outfit, my friend. Happy weekend! 🙂

    1. Thank you, Kathrine! I will talk more about the shorts in my review next week, but I do love these high waisted shorts. Can’t wait to share the beach shoot! Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂

    1. Thank you, Margot! Glad you like the shoot location. Yes, these shorts are so comfy. I will write about them next week when I review the heels. Happy weekend, my friend!

  1. I love the color palette of the outfit and how the shorts and top coordinate with the shoes. The navy belt caught my eyes in how it hints lovely sophistication.

    1. Joanna, thank you! I appreciate your comment. I was hoping the belt gave off that vibe. 😉 Hope you are well! I haven’t forgotten about your last email. It’s just been sooo busy here. Happy weekend!

  2. Oh this looks like a great weekend. Lots of shooting that is great. I have only been to the beach twice this year. And it is pretty close. We luckily did not lose power but lost the last treen in front of the house which fell on my sisters car and totaled it. Lets hope 2021 is better then then bad old 2020.

    1. Hi Allie! It was a great weekend. Between Saturday and Sunday, I was able to shoot 4 heel/outfit combos. I don’t know how I will feature all of them before the fall considering I still have shoots from last summer I have yet to share on the blog. We’ll see…and so glad you didn’t lose power from the storms! I’m sorry that tree totaled your sister’s car. How awful! Hopefully, insurance covered it. Yeah … 2020 has been an interesting year … hopefully, the pandemic will be over some time next year. Hope you’re having a great weekend!!

    1. Oh, Omaye! You are so sweet! Thank you. Your comments made me smile. I’m so glad you like this look. I felt so beautiful and confident in this heel/outfit combo. 🙂 Yes, despite the pandemic, this year is going by fast. I think it helps having good company to spend the time with too. I wish you and your family health and happiness! Take Care!

    1. I know, Radi! I am just so grateful I got to be at the beach twice this year. This is actually more than previous years, so I am happy. :). Thank you! Yes, we’ve been to this spot before when I first started my blog and only had like 10 followers. Lol! I’m glad it’s reaching more people now. I’m glad you like the look too. Posing gets easier with time. I remember my first photo shoot for the blog. I was so awkward! Lol! I remember people walking by with curious looks and I would just tell them, “It’s a shoe blog.” Lol! However, you pose very well too! Love all your desert shots. 🙂

    1. Good for you, Jill! My sister says the same thing. Thank you! This is one of my favorite summer looks. 🙂

  3. Looking so cute here in these snakeskin sandals! What a great pair of summer shoes!

I used to think I couldn’t live without cable- then my boyfriend finally convinced me we could save money by cutting the cord and doing streaming. We’re on YouTube TV, which has actually really worked out nicely. They have local channels, so I don’t miss the news (lol, I’m a granny) and also my must-have’s live Bravo.

    1. Thank you, my favorite 90s inspired girlfriend! 😉 I’m happy to hear you cut the cord. Cable is soooo expensive! I only watch a handful of channels on cable, so it might make sense to eventually cut the cord and do what you do. Thank you for the suggestion, Ashley! And…you’re far from being a granny! Lol!

  4. I’ve seen many a freight train go by, but it’s been many many years since I saw one that had a caboose hooked to the end of it. I guess they just don’t use them anymore. As best I can tell, the caboose pictured here is 100 years old or more.

We should note that the men (train conductors) who rode in these vehicles were notorious for being the meanest dudes you’d ever not want to meet. In the 1973 movie “Emperor of the North” the central villain is one exceptionally evil and sadistic conductor. And in case you’re inclined to dismiss that as just fiction, check out Sean Penn’s “Into the Wild”. The story in it is nonfiction and it includes one sad instance in the life of a very nice young man who was beaten to a pulp by such a trainman and left to die in the middle nowhere.

Thankfully those monsters are a thing of the past, and now the lovely Lizzy is the person onboard the caboose. What an improvement! In both the rider and, as we see in the last pictures, the caboose i.e. hers. 🙂
