Hello, my lovelies!  Lizzy’s Latest is finally back with a new post!  It always seems to take forever these days to finish a post with life pulling me in so many different directions.  Yet, no matter how much time has passed, I return.  I truly appreciate your patience during these long absences from the blog.  I have so much content and not a lot of idle time anymore.  So, I continue to seek that balance that will allow me to post more frequently, like I used to. 

Until then, I have a mini Heels on the Battlefield history post.  🙂  Back in March, I posted an Instagram shot of me sitting on the steps of this dilapidated old home. 

We talked to the woman who lived next door. She told us the man who owned the house fell down the stairs and died. He was dead for at least a few days. His wife, who was in FL at the time, asked the cops to do a wellness check after she didn’t hear from her husband. The cops found his body at the bottom of the stairs. The house, which needs a lot of work was put on the market for a low price of $340K. My best friend, William, guru of Southern Maryland history, told me Lincoln enthusiasts will be competing to buy this old house. He was right. The house just sold a few weeks ago for $350K. This private residence, is the historic Bryantown Tavern.  Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Union Army used it as its headquarters while pursuing John Wilkes Booth.  He was the famous actor who assassinated President Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 1865 at Ford’s Theater in Washington, DC.  Booth, who was ensconced a mere 4 miles away at the house of Dr. Samuel A. Mudd, eluded capture for a little longer, crossing the Potomac River into VA.  It was there, 12 days after Lincoln’s assassination, that Booth was cornered by Union soldiers and executed. 

In the shots below, I am wearing the Lyndy slouchy boots in black by Jessica Simpson.  After that shoot, I mentioned to Dad, who is also Lizzy’s Latest official photographer, that I was gonna change  shoes and run some errands.  As I headed out the door, Dad remarked:

“I thought you said you were changing your shoes?”

I answered, “I did.”

Dad looked bewildered and said, “Those boots look just like the boots you wore for the shoot.”

HAHAHA!!!  I forget to mention I have these same style boots in varying heel heights!  That’s how much I love black slouchy boots.  It’s a fall/winter staple in my closet.  😉  C’mon!  Tell me I’m not the only one who does this?!  Or, perhaps, it’s more proof that I am a shoeaholic! 

I can see why Dad was confused! These boots are fraternal twins. Lol! I also have a 3rd pair in another heel height!

Now, for this post, Lizzy’s Latest is featuring the Sam Edelman Doran sandals.  This would have been my Easter look had I made the Easter deadline.  We took these shots in Richmond, Va, at Maymont, a 100-acre historic estate and park.  We’ve had many photo shoots here in the past and will continue to return for its scenic gardens.

The sandals are a lovely lavender hue and the straps are simple and delicate.  I felt so girly in them!  The heels are approximately 3.5 inches, but unfortunately, I found them to be very uncomfortable.  ☹  There was no noticeable footbed and in less than an hour, I was in pain!  I really wanted to love these, but they will go to my donation pile.  I do not recommend them.  Sigh…but, on the bright side, I get to continue shopping for those perfect pair of lavender heels.  😊
