Shoespiration – Naturalizer Jagger Boot
Surprise! Lizzy’s Latest is featuring a lower-heeled boot on the blog. This post is for all of you who love heels, but just can’t wear them. The Jagger boot merges chic style with all day comfort. My only gripe is that they are a bit heavy. I tend to prefer lighter weight boots, but they are cozy for colder temperatures.
And it was a cold and blustery day when we had this photo shoot. Dad and I headed to Cedarville State Forest in Brandywine, MD. The forest (not park!) was quite desolate and creepy to my indoors girl nature. Dad found a spot, but I was hesitant. The movie, “Deliverance,” always comes to mind when I have to be in the woods.
As we started taking pictures, the winds picked up even more. Birds (or things unknown) shrieked in protest while the slender trees that surrounded us swayed back and forth creating eerie sounds. I can’t tell you how many times jolts of fear entered my body and caused me to freeze, point at trees I thought would snap, and then run to get out of the way! Dad found my high maintenance antics comical and caught a couple snaps of my initial freeze and point fear…LOL…
See?! My fear is for real! I will never be comfortable in the woods.
The rest of the shoot was calmer. By then, we crossed paths with equestrians and they looked at ease which put me more at ease. We were not alone in the forest anymore! I got back into my element to Dad’s relief and we got some great shots playing with the sunlight.
I was happy to be wearing these boots instead of my trademark stilettos. The terrain was not very forgiving, but the functional lug soles were the perfect antidote. With a block heel of approximately 2.25 inches and 1 inch platform, I was able to walk with ease and climb logs with little effort. These boots are fabulous and fun!
I wore them with a blue sweater and white jeans for a casual/chic winter look. Of course, they would look great with blue jeans and leggings too. Unfortunately, they are pretty much sold out, but you can see what pops up with an internet search for, “Naturalizer Jagger Mid-Shaft Boots.”
On our way out of the forest, more craziness ensued. A random turkey darted across the road out of nowhere and Dad had to brake and swerve to miss it. Yikes! Something was chasing it and turned its attention to us because a moment later, a log was thrown at our car, but missed! EEECK!!! Bigfoot anyone?!
Have a great week! It’s Super Bowl night tonight! Good luck to the Chiefs and Eagles! And have a lovely Galentines and/or Valentines Day! I am sending you love and hugs! 😊
Style with a Smile!
XoXo,

Hi Mike … thank you! Glad you enjoyed the blog. For this shoot, we stayed local and hoped for the best. I always prefer destination photo shoots, but timing has to be right. Happy Valentine’s Day, my friend. Glad you got in some golf today. 🙂

That’s how I feel in the woods too, Lizzy. Can you imagine putting up a tent and sleeping over night in it?? Some people are just crazy.
Love the boots!!!

No way would I ever pitch a tent for a night in the woods, Jodie. Hearing noises in the woods when I’m “forced” to hike with my BFF, Packy, in daylight is scary enough for me. It would be like the Blair Witch Project if I had to spend the night in the woods. Hard pass! LOL! Glad you dig the boots, my fellow boot lover! 🙂

Love the boots and the chic casual look you paired them with! That is so nice that your dad took your photos and those first snaps make me chuckle. I would be freaked out too!

I look at these pictures and can’t believe how lucky we got with the lighting. It’s about as close to perfect as we’ve ever gotten. As for the bird that ran frantically across the road, I supposed it was a turkey, because I didn’t and still don’t know what else it could have been. It had a big body and brown feathers, but its neck and legs were a lot longer than any turkey I’ve seen before or since. As for the log/stick that was thrown at us from the woods, that was second time it happened to me in Southern Maryland where others, including Mother, have reported the same happening to them. There’s only one known species (human) around here with the ability to chuck a stick or a log, but why would a person hide in the woods and chuck stuff at cars? It’s especially unlikely when you consider that it happened very early in the morning when Mother and I first experienced it.
Skeptics laugh at the mention of bigfoot. Positing how unlikely a creature so large could go essentially undetected. But when one, like us, takes a look into Dismal Swamp, the area that borders the forest where we took these pictures, it doesn’t seem all that unlikely. The woods are so dense you can see only for a few yards, and the ground is so unstable, you don’t venture onto it unless you’ve got a death wish. An animal with the ability to navigate such terrain could easily hide there.
February 18, 2023 @ 1:02 am
I know! The lighting was so perfect that day and only for a short period of time. I’m glad you suggested the location, Dad. Although, it did have a creepy vibe! I would not want to be there at night!
Southern Maryland definitely has its share of cryptids, Bigfoot being one of them. When Mom told us her Bigfoot story, I was a little skeptical. Then, more stories came out as you said and then we had our experience. So, all these stories just draw me in. It’s fascinating to think about because I love this kinda stuff. 🙂

Ah yes the wind can really be a challenge when shooting. Loving this outfit and these are good choice for the forest. But wow that story with the turkey, a log was thrown??? That nuts.

You look absolutely amazing, Lizzy! Very nice photo shoot and outfit. And great photographer too! 🙂 Just imagine being there at night… Probably ever more creepy sounds, with the only difference that you´re not able to see a thing. The movie Deliverance does come to mind. Or most horror movies in general, really! How many doesn´t feature a desolate forest, especially at night? 🙂 Of course, I would have protected you any time of the day if I was there with you. 😉 Would´ve given you my jacket if you were cold. And my sweater to sit on so you didn´t have to get your white pants dirty. 🙂
Hope 2023 has been great to you so far! Been quite busy myself, but I´m doing great and looking forward to Spring. 🙂 I´m sure its just around the corner now! 😉
February 22, 2023 @ 11:31 pm
Haha, Jack … your comments always make me smile and laugh! 🙂 Thank you for being you with all your kind words and chivalry. My mind always goes to horror extremes because I love horror movies. So, of course, I imagine them in real life. Lol! Awww…your jacket AND sweater … I would expect nothing less from you. 😉
Busy is good … means you’re accomplishing things. I’m having a decent 2023 so far and I hope you are too. Oh Spring…can’t wait! Though, it’s going to be 80 degrees here on Thursday. I’ve been enjoying this mild winter.
Have a great rest of your week! Always great hearing from you!
February 25, 2023 @ 8:56 pm
I like horror movies too. 🙂 There was a time in my early/mid twenties when me and a friend would watch movies at his place almost every weekend. We tried to go through many different genres, to broaden our movie horizons. But it would often result in horror movies. There were just so many to choose from within this category! The most exciting (scary) part was walking home from there alone on late Autumn nights in the dark, after just having seen a horror movie again! 😀
Do you like new ones the best, or more the classic ones from the 60s – 80s? I think you can find some really great ones, both new and older ones!
February 26, 2023 @ 9:34 pm
We’re twinning on the movies, Jack. 🙂 I can picture your walk in the dark in the Fall … the original Halloween movie comes to mind. Lol! Glad you got home safely each time. That is a cute story from your childhood. Thank you for sharing! 🙂
I like the classic ones best, but you’re right, some of the newer ones are pretty good too. “The Conjuring” (first one) scared me! Just this last summer, I took my 14-year-old Godson, Andrew, to see “The Black Phone” (don’t tell my brother and sister-in-law…lol!). Though, that was more psychological scary. We also watched “It.” Creepy! I loved the 80s nostalgia!
Have a great start to your week! 🙂
March 11, 2023 @ 1:00 am
The classic horror movies are my favorites too, couldn´t agree more. 🙂 I´ve also seen “It”, didn´t think it would be all that scary at first since it´s about a clown. But several scenes in there really got to me! :O And I believe that´s the whole point. 😉
Some more suggestions if you haven’t already seen them: 1408 – starts out small and escalates more and more! The Ring and Dark Water were scary…. The Grudge… Paranormal Activity… Silent Hill…The woman in black with Daniel Radcliffe was really good too! Then there are always the wide range of classics such as Poltergeist, Carrie, The Shining, Friday the 13th, Terror on Elm Street, etc… You can watch some trailers. 😉
March 12, 2023 @ 11:51 pm
Hi Jack! Hope you’re having a great weekend! 🙂 I had to work on a proposal this weekend, so I didn’t get much of a weekend. I’m just happy it’s almost done.
Yes! “It” didn’t seem all that scary to me either in the beginning, but as the story continued, I did get scared! Lol!
I will add 1408, Dark Water, and the Woman in Black to my list. I’ve never seen those movies. The others, I have, of course. :). I think you meant, “Nightmare” on Elm Street, right? All great horror films! There’s also The Exorcist. I’ve taken my visiting friends from San Diego to the Exorcist steps in DC. I video taped my childhood best friend, Tammy, walking down those steps to the Exorcist music when she visited on one of our girls trips. I haven’t written about that trip on the blog yet, but I will eventually. 🙂

They look like such great quality and that matters for me when it comes to a pair of boots. I love the rustic look and style. And your outfit is gorgeous paired with these boots. The background looks great and I bet it was fun wearing them not only for the shoot but for the walk. Have an amazing week.
