Shoespiration – Franco Sarto Quinera Peep Toe Booties – Coltons Point, MD
I was like the little engine that could in October and then my little engine lost its steam in November. Oopsie…sorry! I guess y’all are getting used to my inconsistent posting these days. I committed to post at least once a month, but I missed my November deadline. I was not happy about that, but such is life sometimes. All I can say is that I will do better and I appreciate your continued support for my little shoe blog.
Last month was busy because I was packing for my annual girls weekend with my BFF, Packy. We spent the weekend in North Jersey and took a day trip to NYC for some biking in Central Park. We also did some hiking on the Appalachian Trail back in New Jersey. Never again! We got lost for about 15 minutes and panic set in because it was getting close to sunset. Being an indoors girl who is not a fan of hiking, I couldn’t help but conjure up scenes from the movie, Deliverance: “Squeal like a pig!” Yikes!!! Is that enough of a teaser? 😉 I will detail that trip in a future post.
Thanksgiving was wonderful and delicious. Dad, our Italian chef, prepared a feast for me and Mom. It was just the three of us this year, so I got the extra wing that would normally go to my brother. We had our traditional chocolate pudding pie for dessert. Here’s Dad giving us the scoop on the turkey:
The next day, Mom and I did our annual Black Friday shopping. We were on the road by 5AM! We got great deals, but I was so happy to get back home and eat the leftovers. Although, I do most of my shopping online now, my mom still loves going to the malls and shopping centers. I don’t mind taking her because it gives us mother/daughter bonding time. 😊
Finally, I needed time to put up the Christmas tree and decorations. That always takes time because I get caught up in the moment enjoying the sights and sounds of the season. With everything done, I can now relax and enjoy Christmas and reflect on its true meaning.
And…also work on this next blog post! This is the Shoespiration post I wanted to publish last month. I am featuring the Franco Sarto Quinera peep toe booties. The booties are from years ago, but I only recently found an outfit for it. I paired the heels with olive jeans and a sleeveless sweater top for an easy breezy style. We’re still getting some warm days in late fall, so it’s not too late to sport a look like this.
What drew me to the peep toes was the ghillie lace design. The lace up detail makes the booties look so chic! They are super comfortable with an approximately 3.5 inch heel. The heels would look great dressed up too with sleek leggings and/or a skirt. I haven’t tried a dressed up look yet, preferring these shoes to remain casual. Unfortunately, they are no longer available. However, a quick internet search for “Franco Sarto Quinera Peep Toe Booties” may provide some results.
Have a great new week! We are celebrating my parent’s anniversary tonight. They have been married for 35 years!!! That’s a long time and it’s so funny to see how they have slowly become each other’s twin. Stuff my dad would never agree to, he now encourages. For example, my mom loves to buy “unique” things (ie junk!) and my dad gladly helps her. I often wonder if it’s because he secretly wants the junk. Lol! Whatever the case, they have weathered a lot together and are a shining example of a resilient marriage for me, my brother, and my sister. As my dad says, “happy wife, happy life.”
Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad! Love you both so much!

Hi Mike! Haha! Yeah – Dad’s our chef on weekends and holidays. No Maryland hat this time. LOL! Thank you for your kind words and friendship all year long. I truly appreciate your support. It makes publishing at 4AM on some nights well worth it. Although…some of that may be my tendency to procrastinate too. 😉 Merry Christmas, my friend! We just watched The Chosen Christmas Special and it was so lovely! Watching the story of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, never gets old. And the way it was told in this story was just so beautiful, emotional, and powerful.

I appreciate all the kind comments from you and others here regarding Mother’s and my 35th wedding anniversary. If anyone were to ask me what’s the secret of a long marriage, I’d say patience. Which is kind of surprising to me since I’m not a very patient person. I have often heard people say that marriage takes work. I never understood that. Perhaps because for me work is what I do to earn a living and to keep my house/yard clean. I think if I ever tried to “work” on my marriage I’d screw it up more than I ever have. Marriage doesn’t take work, it takes patience. Patience to accept that you’re not always going to get your way, even when you “know” you’re right. And patience to keep your mouth shut for the sake of your mate, even when every fiber in your body tells you to scream out. Sorry if this sounds less than sentimental, but the truth is better than sentiment. If more people understood that, I bet there’d be less divorce.

That’s great advice, Dad! Indeed, patience is the secret to an enduring marriage. Michael, Jeanette, and I all know marriage is not easy just watching you and Mom over the years, but what is consistent between you two is the commitment and love you have to and for each other. That, and A LOT of patience. 🙂
