Lizzy’s Latest – La Plata Train Station Musuem – Vince Camuto Sathina Dress Sandals

I had a full weekend of photo shoots a few weekends ago.  It was long overdue because I had been procrastinating on blog work.  During the downtime, my time was spent in good company taking weekend road trips to towns with Civil War and/or Revolutionary War pasts.  We even made a trip to Hersheypark amusement park.  We were fortunate that day because the weather was not too hot and the humidity was low making having to wear a mask bearable.

I relished the time away because I needed it.  Sometimes, I forget to make myself a priority and it was nice to have a reset and create that balance in my life again. I am surrounded by good people who care for me and are always looking out for my best interests.  So, when they speak up, that’s my cue to take a step back and take some time for myself.  Once I’m recharged, I always come back and I appreciate all of you for your patience and continuing to encourage and support me.  Thank you!  😊

Now, it’s blog time!  This heel/outfit combo was the second look of my Saturday photo shoot.  I suggested the La Plata Train Station Museum for lack of a better place to go, but it turned out to be the perfect place to go for this shoot.

La Plata, MD, as legend goes, was named by Colonel Samuel Chapman, a land owner who owned 6,000 acres in Southern Maryland.

Back in the 1870s, the decade after the Civil War, railroad construction expanded dramatically. The Pennsylvania Railroad company moved south and built a train station and tracks on this spot.

The refurbished train station, according to the site, is the “sole surviving passenger station on the Pope’s Creek Line of the Baltimore and Potomac Railroad.”  You can see the original tracks right in front of the black gate.  It’s the brown line in the grass.  Do you see it?  The new track is visible too and yes, it is still an active track, though, the station is not.  The station is a museum now.

It’s also a small park where children gather and shoe bloggers have photo shoots. 😉

The shots of the train station and caboose were taken a few days ago as I finalized this post. I knew some of you would be curious to see full shots of the station and train.  I know I would be curious.  😉 Fortunately, the rain finally went away that evening and the skies turned clearer for these beautiful shots.

The little red caboose is authentic to the time, according to the person I spoke to at Town Hall.

The atmosphere was light and fun and I felt so confident and sexy in this look!  Sexiness, to me, starts with a great pair of heels and these heels are exquisite!  You can’t go wrong with snake print right now, but my favorite part of this sandal is the multi-color hue of mostly pink and blue…two of my favorite colors!

Now, although I’m stilettos girl, I do like block heels sometimes.  This pair caught my eye because the block heels are skinnier, giving them the illusion of a stiletto heel (sort of) from behind.  The heels are approximately 4 inches with a .75 inch platform.  Add the cushioned footbed and you have a pretty comfortable pair of sandals.  Walking in them was a cinch!  I climbed up and down the train steps and ran around the park with no discomfort.

Unfortunately, they are almost sold out everywhere, especially in this color pattern.  However, a few places still have this color and other colors, but sizing is limited.  Check the heels out here and here.  You could also do an internet search for “Vince Camuto Sathina dress sandals” to see what pops up.

These heels have been on repeat this summer.  You’ll probably see them again on social media with a different outfit.  The outfit for this shoot came together organically.  I had no idea what I would pair the heels with until I was browsing online at the Loft and saw these pink shorts.  The pink is a fabulous summertime color!  Bonus points for being high waisted (to hide the pooch!), button fly (my fave zip style for a couple years now), and with the perfect amount of stretch.  They are one of my favorite summer shorts to wear.  I paired the shorts with a Banana Republic top I purchased many years ago.  I added a blue snake print belt for a little sophistication and voilà:  my summer style was complete.  😊

Dad and I had a great time taking these pics as you can see from my smiling, happy face.  Of course, when am I not having fun taking pics for the blog?!  And wouldn’t you agree that Dad’s really excelling as an amateur photographer?  😊  I was very happy with these shots.  I’d love to come back here for more photo shoots.

I actually had a previous photo shoot here back in 2017 when my blog was less known and before I got the DSLR camera.  Check it out here.

Have a great weekend!  Lizzy’s Latest will be back with a new post soon.  Until then, stay safe and healthy.

Style with a Smile!

XoXo,

Lizzy
