Lizzy’s Latest – Happy Easter 2023
Colossians 3:1:
“…seek what is above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.”
Happy Easter, my lovelies! This quote was from our second reading at Mass this morning. It stuck in my head because it gives us direction on what we should be focused on in this life. Sure, earthly treasures are nice, but they are fleeting and temporary. The goal in life, at least for me, should be Heaven, for heavenly treasures are eternal. That verse really put things in perspective for me and what truly matters in this life: faith, hope, and love, with the greatest being love.
And that is how I spent my day today: giving and receiving love. 🙂 I spent time with my family and caught up with friends over text. With the great spring weather, Dad and I seized the opportunity to fit in a quick photo shoot. We stayed local for this shoot and headed to La Plata, MD. It was so sunny this afternoon that it took us a bit to find the right angles to avoid the blinding sun, but eventually we found our groove and even found some shade as the sun moved in the sky. It was a nice afternoon soaking up that Vitamin D and modeling these sexy Jessica Simpson orchid stilettos. I felt so tall! 🙂
We finished early so that I would have time to put this post together. Dad made pulled pork, an annual Easter tradition in my family. We had broccoli, corn on the cob, and steak fries for sides. It was delicious and I had multiple helpings of the pulled pork. I’m stuffed now. Lol!

Fun fact: Orchid is Lizzy’s favorite color, which is the color of her dress in these pictures. I think it’s very feminine to have a favorite color. My mother’s was peach. Jackie O’s was purple, which is also Taylor Swift’s favorite. Ariana Grande’s, lavender, is close to theirs. Princess Diana’s is reported to have been pink, which surprised me, I would have guessed blue. Dolly Parton’s is white, but she also favors yellow which some say was another fav of Jackie O’s. It’s nice to know a lady’s favorite color because such knowledge can come in handy when it’s time to purchase flowers, or a host of other gifts. BTW, in case you’re wondering, RuPaul’s favorite color is orange, but Caitlyn Jenner’s is anyone’s guess.

Fun fact: Dad enjoys reading celebrity biographies/autobiographies…which is probably how he knows about their favorite colors. Am I right, Dad? Lol! Thank you for sharing in your own humorous way. I do remember peach being Grandma’s fave color. I remember the peach curtains in the living room of your childhood home in Old Bridge. 🙂

You know me well Lizzy. I only wish I had known my wife, your mother, better lol. If so, I could have included her favorite color in my original post. Last night I asked her and she reminded me, it’s purple, more specifically light purple, amethyst, her birth stone.

Not sure where you find the time to relay to us beautiful scripture at the celebration of Easter !!! Also taking time to style 2 beautiful dresses and gorgeous styling pair of heels , thank you for reminding us God sitting at right hand …. The scripture is perfect at the timing we are in our country in todays time !!! We need to take more time to be in a giving and you set the bar high here !!! Thank you, Mike! Yesterday’s post was the “Alpine Express” of blog posts according to Dad. We took pics and I spent the rest of the afternoon/evening putting the post together. I’m super tired tonight, but well worth it. 🙂 I’m glad you like the heel/outfit combo and the Bible verse. There is a lot of misery and conflict in our country right now. We need more prayers and also welcoming God’s will in our lives. I know in my experience, His will is always going to yield deeper happiness than my own often times, misdirected will. There are two styles of high-altitude mountain climbing. The most common is Siege style where summitting takes weeks, an army of sherpas and the establishment of multiple camps along the route. The other is Alpine style where a climber is on his own once he leaves base camp and summitting is done in a matter of a day (the great Reinhold Messner summitted Everest this way). For years I watched Lizzy take many days/weeks to prepare a post from pictures taken months earlier (Siege style if you will). Then last Easter I saw her do it all in a single day – Alpine style! And she did again this Easter.

So sorry for the belated response. I’ve been away from the blog because life got busy again. I am well and hope you are too. Spring was beautiful and looking forward to Summer adventures. This outfit is the perfect look for Easter. I was so shocked when we went out for brunch and saw so many younger girls in jeans. I guess I thought that everyone loved putting on their Easter finery. You sure have, and those shoes are making me drool.

I know! I don’t understand either! I’ve always loved dressing up for the holidays, especially Easter and Christmas. This look was last minute too. I had hoped to find something at the stores, but found nothing. And then I remembered I bought this dress last summer and had the heels to match. So, it came together perfectly in the 11th hour.
