The religious season of Lent for Roman Catholics is the period between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday. It symbolizes the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert as Satan unsuccessfully tempted Him to forsake God. It is a beautiful story of humility and discipline. It is an encouraging story of the perseverance of good when confronted with evil. It is why Lent is a time of abstinence, repentance, and introspection. (more…)

As a practicing Roman Catholic, one of my favorite weekly activities is attending Mass. I see it as visiting God in His house once a week. Going to church is also cathartic for me. Whatever struggles I may have encountered during the week dissipates as I participate in the Mass. By the end of Mass my spirit feels renewed, my mind is clear, and I leave with a calming sense of peace. (more…)
We continued on our Alexandria, VA adventure with these set of pictures. After taking more shots around my dad’s office, we braved the brisk wind in search of new scenery. Christmas decorations were still on display around the federal courthouse keeping the atmosphere quite festive. Interesting to note, that courthouse was the location where 9/11 terrorist, Zacarias Moussaoui, was tried and convicted. Across from the courthouse is the Carlyle Club, a pretty famous establishment in the Washington, DC area. 🙂 (more…)
Not too long ago, I had a heart to heart with my co-worker and good friend, Walter. After commenting about how exhausted he looked, he revealed that his family was dealing with an unexpected crisis. I could see the worry on his face. I could sense the fear of uncertainty in his voice as he confessed that his younger brother, Anthony, 22, has been fighting an aggressive form of skin cancer since last August. The cancer came back a few weeks ago with a vengeance putting Anthony’s young life in serious jeopardy. (more…)
2016 started off with a bang! Rather than sleeping in on the first day of the new year, we got up early for this photo shoot. To preserve as much daylight as possible, we didn’t venture too far out of the neighborhood. Instead we drove to my dad’s office in Alexandria, VA. Founded in 1749, the city has been a prominent witness of history since its founding. I highly recommend a walking tour of Alexandria if you’re ever in the area. (more…)

Happy New Year! I hope you had a great New Year’s Eve! There was a time when I liked to dress up in a sexy pair of heels and dance the night away. Now, I prefer quieter evenings at home. The girly-girl in me could not resist purchasing these super classy and cute stiletto heels with a bow adorning the ankle strap. It is a subtle bow, but it makes these pointed toe heels quite unique, in my opinion. If you’ve been following my blog, you know I have narrow heels which makes wearing traditional pumps a challenge because my heels keep popping out of the shoe! So, I tend to buy pumps with ankle straps. Now, imagine my excitement when I saw these beauties online at White House Black Market about a year or so ago. I was so thrilled about finding black pumps that were not boring, but had an understated flair! (more…)
