Lizzy’s Latest – Southern Maryland – HAPPY 4th of JULY!!!

HAPPY 4TH of JULY, my family, friends, followers, and visitors!  It is Independence Day here in the United States.  It was on this day 248 years ago that 13 courageous colonies declared their independence from Great Britain (July 4, 1776).  You can read more about the history from my 4th of July post from last year here.  🙂

This year, we remained in Southern Maryland for this 4th of July photo shoot.  We started the shoot in Solomon’s Island, MD, a quaint little town popular with tourists.  While there, we noticed a continuous stream of people dressed in colorful caftans and curly-haired red wigs.  The people looked so familiar to me and Dad, but we couldn’t place the character these people were portraying.

So, on our drive out of Solomon’s Island, I rolled down the window and asked a group in costume who they were dressed as and they all laughed as they replied, “Mrs. Roper from Three’s Company!”

YES!!!  Mrs. Roper!  The Roper Romp convention was in town that weekend.  We had never heard of this gathering, but apparently it is a popular event.  And everyone looked great in their costumes.  I regret not getting a pic with them.  Maybe, next time.

Our second location was the Pax Air Museum.  We were here years ago and I thought it would be cool to get shots in front of the McDonnell Douglas Blue Angel.  I remember catching the Blue Angels show many times as a kid growing up in San Diego, CA.  So, it felt nostalgic being so close to the plane.

Unfortunately, we got there 15 minutes before closing time.  Without much time, we were only able to take a handful of pics.  Despite, I found two to use in this post.  If you’re in the area, I recommend this little museum.

Our last location was a new discovery Dad found while I was freshening up in the bathroom before we left the museum:  Piney Point Lighthouse Museum and Historic Park.  We didn’t think much of it initially, but then we found a path that led to a beach area.  PERFECT for the 4th!  🙂  These last shots and the cover shot were taken there.

We do plan to return to Piney Point this fall for more exploring and photo shooting.  There’s history there about the lighthouse I’d like to share…including pics of the lighthouse.  Every time we think we’ve seen everything in Southern MD, a new gem makes itself known.  I love that!

Before I close, I must share these heels with you!  They are a sexy stiletto in red muse by Jessica Simpson.  The Neveny is just under 4 inches and surprisingly comfortable.  What I love about this red hue is that it’s not too bright and not too dark.  As such, they can be worn any season.

Hope y’all have a wonderful holiday!  I’ve missed connecting with all of you!  Hope you’ve all been well and are enjoying the summer.  Let me know what you’ve been up to.  I’ve got New Kids on the Block concerts coming up and I am looking forward to them!  🙂  I will definitely share my experience on the blog.  Until then, enjoy the pics!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA!!!

XoXo,

Lizzy
