Lizzy’s Latest – Vince Camuto Elisen Buckle Lug Sole Booties

Maryland is such a beautiful state!  To this day, we continue to discover amazing treasures such as the War Correspondents Memorial Arch at Gathland State Park in Western Maryland.  I was so excited to have a fall photo shoot here because of the gorgeous backdrop.  Part of the Appalachian Trail cuts through here and the area is steeped in Civil War history that I was not aware of until we found this hidden gem.  I’m hoping to write more about its Civil War past in future blog posts.  (more…)

Lizzy’s Latest – Happy Valentine’s Day 2022! H.L. Hunley: My Life Preserver

First Corinthians, 13-13:  So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

George E. Dixon was a handsome and wealthy young man working in Mobile, AL by the start of the Civil War in 1861.  One day, a Southern bell named, Queenie Bennett, caught his eye.  Dixon made his affections known to her and when Queenie drew her handkerchief across her lips and looked at him with desire, Dixon knew she was smitten with him too.  The warmth of young love filled their hearts and the two began a courtship that would become the stuff of legends. HAPPY NEW YEAR to my family, friends, followers, and visitors!  I’m 30 days late with this post, but better late than never, right?!  😉  My regulars are used to my consistent inconsistent posting schedule.  However, I did commit to at least one post a month, so here we go!  😊 (more…)

Lizzy’s Latest – Burnside Bridge at Antietam Battlefield – Merry Christmas 2021

MERRY CHRISTMAS to my family, friends, followers, and visitors!  I can’t believe how fast December flew.  It felt like just yesterday I was writing out Christmas cards.  Now, I will enjoy “Midnight” Mass at 8PM this evening with my parents.  Then after, I will be up late wrapping presents and baking my famous chocolate chip cookies.

My sister, Jeanette, and my brother, Michael, and his family will arrive tomorrow afternoon just in time for Dad’s legendary turkey feast and chocolate pudding pie – mont blanc, anyone?  😉  I can’t wait!  It is such a joyous time of year for me and my family.

Yet, I also realize this time of year can be difficult and challenging for some.  People who are alone and/or estranged from family and/or friends.  I’ve had years like that in the past growing up and it’s not a good feeling.  Long before my deeper conversion to my Catholic faith (read about it here), I was spiritually lost.  I ignored the true meaning of Christmas and blamed God for whatever suffering I was struggling with, never looking myself in the mirror for the true architect of my misery…me.  (more…)

I was like the little engine that could in October and then my little engine lost its steam in November.  Oopsie…sorry!  I guess y’all are getting used to my inconsistent posting these days.  I committed to post at least once a month, but I missed my November deadline. I was not happy about that, but such is life sometimes.  All I can say is that I will do better and I appreciate your continued support for my little shoe blog.  (more…)

Lizzy’s Latest – Lizzy vs. the Manhole Masher

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

While photo shooting a few weekends ago, we encountered this skeleton emerging from a manhole.  It was part of a Halloween display decorating the town of La Plata, MD.  As soon as I saw it, I knew it would make a great prop poking tongue in cheek fun at all the shoe and feet enthusiasts out there.  As a shoe blogger, you can imagine the types of messages I get from these admirers…perhaps, that will be a future blog post!  😉

In the meantime, enjoy this Halloween tale about an unsuspecting shoe blogger and a stalking manhole masher in Lizzy vs. the Manhole Masher!

Lizzy’s Latest – Paranormal Pacifier

The paranormal has always intrigued me and my dad.  Although, we don’t participate in any occult practices, we love wandering around haunted places, taking ghost tours, and exploring graveyards and cemeteries to indulge our taphophile hearts.  (more…)

Shoespiration – Anne Klein Lalima Platform Sandals

Are y’all surprised to hear from me so soon?!  😉  I’m truly trying to make up for all this lost time.  This summer was hectic with work, summer adventures, and photo shoots.  Although I didn’t post much these last couple of months, we were still taking pictures for the blog.  I have a backlog of content from past summers and this summer to share.  My dad is of the mindset that summer looks can be posted anytime of year.  I tend to like to share outfits that complement the current season.  Perhaps there can be a compromise.  What do you think? Lizzy’s Latest – INC International Concepts Kenjay American Flag d’Orsay Pumps

So, I have to give credit to my dad for suggesting a carnival photo shoot for the 4th of July.  When we were throwing out ideas, I thought it would be cool to take a drive to Williamsburg, VA and check out the President Heads.  When I showed Dad some pics, he scoffed and reminded me my stilettos would get dirty in the mud.  OK … maybe, not my best idea, but I was also a little hesitant about the carnival thinking it would be too crowded.  Dad assured me we would go before it opened and despite my reticence, I agreed for lack of a better location.
