Bethesda/Rockville, MD – Neutral State of Mind

After the Bar Mitvah I wrote about last week, my dad and I spent the rest of the afternoon taking blog pictures.  To take full advantage of time and weather, we take pictures for 3-4 weeks worth of blog entries.  It makes for a long afternoon, but it is well worth the effort to avoid having to take pictures every weekend.

What may not be obvious is the discussion on where wardrobe changes would occur.  I’ve changed everywhere from Visitor Center bathrooms to even the car.  In this instance, I was pretty confident I could change at the synagogue.  Then, it became clear that would be impossible because all the doors were locked for security reasons.

Fortunately, my dad is very familiar with this area having lived in North Bethesda for many years.  He suggested we go to the recently closed White Flint Mall where one department store, Lord and Taylor, is still operating.  Inside, I was happy to see that the bathrooms were clean.  I did my first wardrobe change here.  On our way out, my dad and I passed a saleswoman wearing a very short skirt and textured pantyhose.  We quickly looked away, but not before she gave my dad a dirty look!  Ooops!

We took pictures at Grosvenor Park where my dad lived in a high rise for almost 10 years.  He loved that place because of its walking proximity to Metro and the beautiful park surrounding his building.  He reminisced about quiet walks through the park and relaxing on his 9th floor balcony enjoying the view.  His building even had a concierge giving it a hotel-like atmosphere.

It was here at my dad’s old building that I did the rest of my wardrobe changes.  I had to wait about five minutes or so for my last wardrobe change because someone was already in the bathroom.  Of course, the longer I waited, the more anxious I became thinking the current bathroom occupant was doing a number 2!  Gross!  I didn’t want to smell anything foul when the door opened.  I kept thinking how much longer is she going to take?  Then, the door opened, and I held my breath scared to breathe.  She was a teenager and she smiled at me.  I smiled back, mouth closed, still holding my breath.  Refusing to breathe, I stood outside uncertain about going in.  Eventually, I could hold my breath no longer and to my relief, no foul odor.  Otherwise, we would have headed back to Lord and Taylor.  😉

Have a wonderful week!  🙂

Lizzy’s Latest for this week is the Bar III Janet Ghillie Pumps.  I will give my review of these pumps on Wednesday.  For now, enjoy the pictures!  🙂
