Lizzy’s Latest – Charles by Charles David Muller Over-the-Knee Boots
These shots were taken the week after Thanksgiving. I usually take that week off to do the majority of my Christmas shopping and put up the tree. When I noticed one of the days was going to be a balmy 50 degrees, I asked Dad if he could take the day off for a photo shoot. Dad was game and when I suggested the Lincoln Memorial, he was ecstatic. Dad had been wanting to photograph at this location since I started my blog in 2015. It was the perfect time of year too with minimal crowds.
We got there a little after the noon hour. When I exited the car, I was hit with a biting wind. Where did that wind come from?! I felt the chill and put on my gloves. The atmosphere definitely felt colder than the forecast projected. Finally at the Lincoln Memorial, the winds calmed down a bit, but the air was still crisp. I took a deep breath and took off my coat and gloves. We quickly got to work, but in those early shots, it was so difficult to get pictures sans tourists. Fortunately, most people saw us taking pictures and were respectful. I noticed one guy taking pictures of me, but rather than call him out, I smiled for his camera. I think he liked my over-the-knee (OTK) boots. 🙂
And what’s not to love about these sexy Charles by Charles David OTK boots?! They are the epitome of my perfect boot, fulfilling my top 3 “must haves” for the ideal boot. The stilettos (must have #1) are my favorite heel height at approximately 3.75 inches (must have #2). The slouchy style (must have #3) adds a flirty vibe to the chic boots. If only all my boots had these 3 elements, but I digress. 😉
The boots are very comfortable too, though they are not meant for a full day of walking. Date night is perfect, sight-seeing in DC, not so practical. 😉 Despite, I loved walking around in these boots and I got several compliments too during the photo shoot.
I paired the boots with a plaid green skirt, black pantyhose, and black top for a modern vibe. For a more vintage feel, match them with a boho dress. They would also look fabulous with short-shorts and leggings. Unfortunately, the boots are in limited quantity and virtually sold out everywhere. You might try your luck here or do a quick internet search for “Charles by Charles David Muller over-the-knee boots.”
The universe FINALLY gave us the perfect opportunity for perfect shots at the Lincoln Memorial. No one was standing in front of Lincoln later that afternoon, at least for a few minutes! I quickly got into position and Dad started snapping away. The cover shot from last week was from those last shots as is one from this set. It’s surprising how lucky we got! Even my dad’s co-worker, Fannie, a fervent supporter of my blog, could not stop raving about how we captured pics without people in the background. 🙂 Sometimes, patience and persistence pay off. 😉
We could not leave DC without a visit to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. It honors the 58,000+ men and women lost (died or missing) during the Vietnam War. Their names are etched on black granite walls, a perpetual and somber reminder of their courage and sacrifice.
We ended the shoot at the Three Soldiers statue just across the Wall. Interestingly, this statue contains the first depiction of an African American on the National Mall.
Have a wonderful week! Lizzy’s Latest will be back in a week or two with a Shoespiration segment finishing up our post-Thanksgiving photo shoot in and around the Lincoln Memorial.
Style with a Smile!
XoXo,
Lizzy

Absolutely fabulous Lizzy. I just love the OTK boots with my shorter skirts like this. And I remember that kind of weather…it can be tough.
